So this is a topic that i do keep seeing around often within the halo community mainly due to halo 4. But also there have been topics about Halo Reach as well as let’s say “the beginning” of a split up. People were very, very competitive back then as i remembered but when Reach came out and this was at the time when i hardly had an xbox or kept up with the news, Reach’s scene for the competitive side turned out… bad. Not only that there were like mechanics i started hearing about like spartan abilities, load outs and well that topic about bloom and i was like “oh… wow okay, this is a problem now.” then as that came into play halo 4 came out and then those same mechanics from Reach stayed except those mechanics were very… worst. Not only that 4’s direction within the multiplayer scene you had to call in weapon drops when you get certain amount of kills, load outs including faster reload, faster shield time and other mods along with it, which is now known as a uh a cod clone.
Right now in this day of age all i hear about people is saying 343 killed halo. If they did killed halo, wouldn’t that be also Bungie’s fault of introducing those mechanics from Reach?
I have also already posted this discussion onto the halo sub reddit, you can visit there to see other people’s discussions, its actually pretty interesting ot hear from other people’s perspective and opinions.
Lets try to keep positive forum posting within the community. We don’t want new people coming on the general forums and seeing negativity that will drive them from playing and interacting with the community.
Personally I think Halo 4 was the start of the downfall because they changed everything that everyone knew halo to be like the simplistic armor style and the advanced but simple looking art style every thing in halo 4 was like turned up 4 levels. Anyone who thinks that halo reach was the split is wrong. Halo reach was a solid game with the best looking armor and the best armor customization of any game.

oh of course, this post isn’t really meant to be negative or anything, just like to see a perspective from other people

what about gameplay?
Also if you compare Halo 5 with other shooters it does offer a lot of play value which is what we need.

i actually quite enjoy 5, especially with the forge community
I consider Reach to be the game that “killed” Halo. At least in the multiplayer department. I feel like Bungie didn’t really care about Halo after 3/ODST and just had to make another Halo game out of obligation to Microsoft. I also feel like they ran out of ideas on how to evolve Halo but also keep it a true Halo game thus abilities were born. To be fair though it’s possible Microsoft had a hand in that, Don Mattrick was HORRIBLE. 343i is just as much to blame though. They could’ve gotten rid of what people didn’t like in Reach and go back to the more classic style but they went the complete opposite.
There’s nothing really good or constructive that I can see coming from this. Threads like this almost aways turn into a, “This is why X sucks and you suck for liking it!” and that’s not really something we want to encourage or foster.
But as a parting reminder, halo2sucks.com was a thing so people have always maintained that the new game was “The Worst Ever” so people will basically never be happy.
