I think it was 2401 Penitent Tangent.
I agree, 2041, I want to know how he ended up the way he did.
2401 Penitent Tangent. He’s far from a primary character, but he’s the first monitor we’ve seen in a game which wasn’t 343 Guilty Spark. I find his voice, design, and ultimate predicament to be highly interesting in Halo 2.

I’m kind of disappointed because I wished that story to had been told through the Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary terminals. It only alludes to what happens to 240 Penitent tangent, never explains it. The again, I suppose the Halo: CEA terminals were intended to primarily tell the story of 343 Guilty Spark’s dissent into rampancy. Maybe if 343i developed a Halo 2: Anniversary, they could create a set of terminals explaining what happened to Penitent Tangent.
343 GS is just “help, betray, help, betray”.
2401 PT’s story has to be very interesting. I want to learn about that.
How/why did he allow the Flood to escape?
How did he get captured?
Did he survive?
Guilty Spark was stale. I found his character to be more urgent in Halo 3.
In Halo 2, he’s completely passive. Just talking and never doing anything.
One would think he’d be able to assert some control over the Installation. Where the hell were the Sentinels that would have been stationed around the control room? Called away to the Quarantine Zone? :S
definitely 2401 penitent tangent. If 343 decide to remake halo 2 they need to add terminals about his backstory
Edit: oops, didn’t realize Phenotype94 already posted a simlar idea.
