Which eSports team should you support?

There are many ways people may choose their team to support, you may be a fan of them already with teams like EnVy and Sentinels already having a dominant Halo history, or you may already be a fan of Cloud9 or FaZe that already have large followings in other games. Perhaps you want to support a team that has your favourite player, represents your part of the world or sports your favoured colours. Here’s some bite size info on what we know already.

If you want to go off of geographical location:

United States
Sentinels
EnVy
Cloud9
FaZe
Spacestation

Eastern Europe
Navi (Ukraine )

Western Europe
FNATIC (United Kingdom)
G2 eSports (Spain/Germany)

If you want to go off main team colours (teams will probably have two sets as they have clashing colours):

Black
enVy (with Blue)
Cloud9 (with Blue)
G2 eSports (with Red)
FNATIC (with Orange)
Spacestation (with Yellow)

White
eUnited (with Red and Blue)
Sentinels (with Red)

Yellow
Navi (with Black)

Red
FaZe (with Black)

If you want to support your favourite Halo pro, some have already been signed to teams:

Sentinels

Lethul
Frosty
Snakebite

eUnited
KingNick
Rayne
Ryanoob
Spartan

enVy
Pistola

Lucid

Cloud9
Penguin

Stellur
Renegade

If none of this has helped you decide then the best way is to watch Rayleigh 2021 and see how the teams perform, how they interact with each other and how they come across in interviews. I’m sure you will soon find the team that represents you best. Maybe there won’t be any and you’ll just enjoy watching Halo played at the highest level. There will also be open bracket teams and players that may shine through, who knows how many teams might get sponsored in the end.

I know watching MLG tournaments helped me become a better player and enjoy Halo in different ways so I hope the new focus on eSports does the same for many of you. Enjoy!

Halo still relevant in Esports? I thought that all dissipated after Halo 3 lol. Didn’t know anyone still cared tbh

No, but they’re planning on making a comeback with the sponsored teams and largest tournaments ever.

Ah okay, I see. I remember MLG Halo being televised lol. Shows how old I am. That’d be cool to see again.

I recognize some of these pro names, but man. I feel old. This Halo Infinite tournament will be great to watch.

Yeah definitely, I remember staying up till the early hours of the morning on a Sunday night before school to watch the grand finals. Now I’m staying up till the early hours feeding a baby.

Crazy to think how much life has changed in 10 years, still no sleep though!

I followed competitive Halo from the start it was so popular in the early days, teams such as FB, Carbon & Str8 had fierce rivalry and loyal players who wouldn’t jump teams if they lost they would just work harder for the next event.
Fast forward to the last few years, no teams have any identity they are full of pro’s who swap teams every tournament, not willing to stay and improve just look for someone to blame and then looking for a new team. This does not inspire loyalty from fans for the teams or players, who do they follow the franchise or the pro ?
People lose interest in the competitive scene
as a result, as the constant team switching it dilutes the value of the competition

Life’s changed so much. Sometimes I’ll find myself going down a YouTube rabbit hole…watching old memories that help me remember my own. So many things changed. So many heavy consequences to the soul…but I guess that’s all just part of the entire experience I suppose…

On topic though…I remember watching something that followed Tsquared around. Like a day in the life of a pro gamer or something. It was pretty dope. He was a big name back then, and it actually wasn’t until recently that I finally understood why he became this hated person. I feel like these kinds of shows are awesome and we need more of them. It’s like the ultimate fighter shows in a sense. Like it shows their daily grind, their internal struggles, what it all means to them etc.

I think sentinels have been the most consistent and relevant team in recent years. (Or tox, or however you remember them. )

Other teams have good players too, but I feel like they just don’t mesh as well. It’s going to be interesting to watch how different the game is played by all these guys.

I had wanted to make this big thread over an idea I had which basically coincides with this one in terms of supporting. I believed maybe it would give a big incentive for people to get into watching the competitive stuff as well as in a way…partake in it by showing support. It was a modified take on destiny’s faction system, but replacing the factions with actual pro teams…and having tier rewards for basically completing challenges while wearing their emblem, unlock special team armor coatings and weapon skins, and earning bonus xp for watching any tournament series that would come out. I had it all nerded out and typed out and just ended up erasing the entire thing cause nobody probably wouldn’t care.

ill be supporting sentinals cause once a fan always a fan!!!

  1. Pistola is still playing? bruh, he’s older than me lol

  2. Sentinels are most favored, too dominant in Halo 5, amazing chemistry, only real chance of them getting destroyed is a bunch of new PC players with M+K wrecking them (which might happen)

  3. If I had to pick any of those teams in terms of potential I would go with Cloud9, tons of talent.

  4. Everything off the table if Huke comes back to play, people forget that dude was by far the best Halo player in 5 if even for a brief period of time.

Ha unfortunately I am older than Pistola, but it is funny how it’s only him and aPG currently signed from the main team H3 days. The pair of them were noticeably young when they competed previously. It always made me laugh how he was called a Pure Gangster but looked like an 11 year old kid.

I agree, Sentinels were very dominant, it’s a very strong team lineup and they already have good synergy. Going to take a lot to take them down I think. Hopefully they don’t completely dominate Infinite like they did H5 and Final Boss did CE and 2. It was much more entertaining with Halo 3 where lots of different teams won and there were upsets every tournament. Would be great to see some open bracket teams do well too.

After watching the 2v2 H2 tournaments I think Tripppey is a beast, surrounded by other good players enVy have a good chance to do really well too. I like their squad and have always enjoyed Pistola, felt like the guy couldn’t go a tournament without an Overkill.

I wasn’t watching during Huke’s playing time but would be great to see some iconic players break through into the eSports scene. We definitely need more personalities! One thing I’ve noticed from Overwatch is how boring most the player interviews end up being.

Infinite doesn’t appear to have as high of a skill gap as was in Halo 5, so I doubt that it will be possible to dominate for any length of time like what was shown in Halo 5 (for those of you unaware, CLG/Optic/Tox/Sentinels were extremely dominant in Halo 5 and were only upset in rare occasions , they are final boss going into Infinite basically)

I expect Sentinels to rule with an iron fist in first few events, but tons of new players (hopefully, otherwise competitive Halo is screwed regardless) and metas developing will take them off top.

Edit: Also, don’t expect first event that takes place 1 week from launch to be meaningful or relevant long term.

I’m going to be starting out Infinite as a pretty big Sentinels fan I have to say.

Frosty is probably my favorite of the newest Halo pro generation. And Snakebite is a tried and true veteran who makes a high volume of big brain out plays.

For non-team narratives, I’m excited to find out where Bound’s story goes. The kid comes out of nowhere into the Halo 5 pandemic e-tourney’s and starts competing with the top tier players all without batting an eye lash? Time to find out if he’s Bound for the history books or the losers bracket

Is this going to air on Spike TV with Puckett announcing? Asking so I can be ready with my Stride gum and T2 Dr Pepper.

I was just telling my friends earlier I need to find a pro Halo team to support. The timing of this thread is eerie, but I really appreciate it!

I’m sure you will find your favourite team soon enough. I used to always support two teams whenever watching MLG tournaments, I always supported my main team and whichever team my favourite player played for.

I totally agree with this, I don’t think Halo as an E-sports game has been relevant since H3.

Halo world championship still had decent viewership for the main events, but there definitely seems to be less interest in more regular tournaments.

Hopefully they can bring more awareness in game to them and get more people watching and interested. Having a good eSports scene definitely helps the games long term popularity.

Unfortunately I never really got into the esports of Halo because I really didn’t know much. I remember watching a few games back in the day during Halo 3 and I also watch some in the early days of Halo 5.

I would like that field to build/grow and become more relevant with Halo Infinite and possibly I’ll become more invested.
