When I get my beloved copy of Halo 4 Monday night, first thing I’m going to do is install that bad boy, just like my copies of Skyrim and Bioshock. However, as Halo 4 is coming out on 2 discs, I was wondering if i would have to install both or not. Or is it like Battlefield 3 and there is a whole separate “graphics update thingy” I must download?
If you want to install the game for better loading times and performance, you’ll need to install both discs.

Ok thanks. …Stupid Xbox and no blueray…

How do you know this? did I miss an announcement saying what was on each disc? If I did that’s fine but as far as we know one disc is campaign and one MP. Which installing them would then depend on what you play.

What I mean is that installing one disc won’t improve the performance of the other. I guess I should have worded it better.
This was a concern of mine as well. When Reach was coming out, Bungie specifically said that you’d get the most out of the experience if you installed.
I’m going to be really impatient though. Maybe I’ll read all the goodies in the Limited Edition set while the game is installing.
Heres my plan- Go to gamestop at midnight release. Pick up Halo 4 and speed home. Install campaign disk, while installing grab a days worth of food and game fuel. After done installing, play campaign till I beat it. After campaign, start installing multiplayer disk. While multiplayer disc is installing, take a big… you know.
I’ll install during sleep or while at work. No way am I waiting to get straight into the action.

Meh. PS3 runs on BD but it requires a download for the same reason xbox games are better for installing.

Thanks. I was wondering if I missed some thing. I’m hoping that MP is on one disc and campaign on the other. I’m really not sure why they would keep that a secret though. I’m thinking, hoping that there must be a surprise on the second disc…
Do you have to install anything? I have like 3 Gbs left.
Im installing both discs because i plan on playing this game a lot and 360’s arent the most reliable consoles. I always install my games that im going to be constantly playing and its a good thing i have a 320GB hard drive. also those of you low on memory erase the junk you dont use anymore.

Halo 4 requires a mandatory 8GB install.

Do you have some proof that the game is played on two discs? If not, and then the second disc is just a download, that I can assume downloading the second disc would be required. Then to increase the speed of whatever is on the first disc you would download that too, essentially meaning that your statement is correct, but the second disc would be a mandatory download.
It would make sense to me that the 8gb required is for the second disc to be downloaded, then played through the first disc.

For Matchmaking. You can play Campaign without installing anything ^.^

Well crap. Might not get it then. Don’t want to spend over $100 bucks when I rarely play anymore.

Just get a flash drive, you can probably get a 16 GB for 20-30 dollars.
