Which console is best for Infinite?

Is there any official statement about the Xbox X providing better framerates or graphics for Infinite?
Thats what Microsoft claims:
“Games featuring the Optimized for Xbox Series X|S icon will showcase unparalleled load-times, heightened visuals, and steadier framerates at up to 120FPS.”

Since i will buy the box exclusively to play Halo i dont see the point buying an X or S series when an old one does the same job.

The best experience will be on Series X|S. Not saying One version is bad but this game was supposed to be launch title for the new xbox and multiplayer is confirmed 120fps, xbox One can’t run at 120 frames and cannot simply offer same graphics as Series X. But yeah the game should still be good on any device you decide to play on.

Beware that Halo Infinite is supposed to be a platform for the next ten years of Halo. The Xbox One family will be fully supported at the release of the game, but who knows if in two or three years support will be cut off?

So, if you’re unsure about spending big money on a console to play only one game, if I were you I’d buy the cheaper Xbox Series S, unless you can find a second-hand Xbox One X being sold for a very good price. Or play on PC, if yours is capable enough.

If you want the best console experience for Halo Infinite I recommend buying a Series X.

A friend of mine still runs Halo 5 off of a original Xbox One. The difference is night and day between Xbox One & Series X. Visually the Series X looks better & the loading is much faster. On Series X I can load a mission and go back to the main menu and load it again in literal seconds. Xbox One just doesn’t compete. I imagine it’ll be a even bigger stretch of difference with Halo Infinite.

Xbox One consoles will run the game but it will be a lesser quality experience overall.
Older consoles won’t run at a higher frame rate and likely be less stable. You’ll also probably have access to less features such as FOV sliders etc.

Series X/S is the way to play new games. Optimised titles look and feel amazing. Series X/S are a platform for the future of gaming now. I imagine Halo Infinite will running Native 4K60 for campaign. Ray tracing is supposed to be coming to the game too for new consoles. Better tender distances and load times. Option for 60 or 120 FPS for online play. And probably much more.

I watched 5 comparison videos and i must say the differences are minor to me.
yeah, slightly sharper, a bit more shiny, but overall negligible. at least for me. especially since i would need a new monitor.Mine is from 2011.
And i dont care about Loading time since its a one time a day thing, while i grab my drinks and snacks.
But since the series S is relatively cheap i think ill go for that one.

IF Infinite is uber maxed out and i it get addicted to it, i can still switch to the Series X.
But i have my doubts.

Honestly the PC version will probably end up being the best version, since this is the first Halo being designed from the ground up with PC compatibility in mind.

Similar to you, I’ll only be getting an Xbox for Halo Infinite. You should only consider at what video resolution you wanna play. I have a 1080p TV, so that means an XB1 or Series S will suffice. Luckily, both of them are available for 300 eurobucks. Right now I’m not thinking about second-hand, but that’s still a pretty viable option for XB1 consoles. Unless we have a Cyberpunk situation on our hands.

But Series X on a 1080p display is overkill imho.

i think the same.
but the fps is theoretically a factor.
although in most videos it was stated, that games either run 60 or 30 fps depending on raytrace activated or not.
Which from what i saw i just a little bit blink blink from an light source.

you can watch it here:

They haven’t announced specifics yet but yes I would assume you’d get better visuals and framerate on current gen than last gen. There’s no way the XB1 is gonna hit 120fps when H5 couldn’t keep a steady 60fps. Unless their new engine is literally magic.

according to this:

its not granted to ever run 120 fps smoothly.

Here: Xbox Series X pfeift aus allen Löchern: Neues Spiel bringt Konsole an ihre Grenzen
its tested on a new game.

On January 28, 2021, The Medium, a new Microsoft-exclusive psychological horror game for PC and the new Xbox series consoles, was released. The technology experts at Digital Foundry have extensively tested the game on the new consoles and made some interesting observations:
According to their reports, the new game seems to take its toll on Xbox Series X itself. During the tests, the resolution fluctuated between native 4K and 900p (1,600 x 900 pixels) depending on the game scene. On average, the Xbox Series X achieves a resolution of 1440p (2560 x 1440 pixels).

So it seems the Series X goes on it knees with next gen games.
Tbh this sounds worse than anything i experienced ever on the old xbox one.
When 4K is claimed but resolution can drop to 900p, it might be the same for FPS

PC

I guess Series X or a good PC

If MCC is any proof, it seems that PC will be the best choice regardless of console specifics. PC is already stronger than XSX, and will only become stronger graphically.

That OG Xbox One version is going to be one hell of a port. I hope its not holding back the development.
Series X will definitely be the best just under a PC.

Here’s my tiered list:

  1. PC
  2. Xbox Series X|S
  3. Xbox One X
  4. Xbox One S
  5. Xbox One Original

Raytracing can seriously stagger your framerate. If you’re concerned about performance, I wouldn’t recommend that you turned it on. I would also recommend running Normal to High settings at 1080p if you want even better performance

Yeah I wouldn’t count on the Xbox One version to be supported for long. Maybe one or two years I’d give it and then they’ll pull the plug to go full-next gen.

Is there any difference at all on how the Xbox One S and the Xbox One fat run games?
Also, it depends on the PC. Mine is below Xbox One fat…

I think this one is up to each player individually here. I don’t think there really is a “best console” to play Halo Infinite with since it’s predominately built to run on the Xbox One. “To each their own” on this one.

The Medium is a 30fps game. The Series X does not go on it’s knees with next gen games. The Medium is not wose than anything on Xbo One either, Xbox One could not run it according to DF. You need to watch that digital foundry report. There are specific reasons for 900p when in split screen.

Also there was an issue with the frame pacing. DF reached out to the devs and it’s being patched. Also, this is not a first party AAA juggernaut. Watch the video before criticising too heavily, like I said there are very specific reasons for various things.
The Medium, Digital Foundry. As for Halo Infinte on console ? Series X will be the best optomised version.
