Okay so I spotted something when I looked at the cover art for Halo 5: Guardians and the Trailer. In the Cover Art Locke has an ONI Symbol on his chest but at 1:25 ( Here is a link https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/videoplayer/youtube?id=aPGPiSpTw4w&agegate=true ) There is clearly no emblem. Thoughts?
The community has known about the ONI emblem on Agent Locke’s armor ever since the cover art for Halo 5: Guardians was revealed.
EDIT: I misread the OP the first time, sorry. Perhaps Agent Locke joins ONI sometime during the course of the game and not before?
It could just be a simple error in the CGI department. Even so, having the ONI symbol on Locke’s armor may have been intended to help us identify that he was employed by ONI when we first saw him; it may not have been an actual trait.
Either it was cut out or just not added in video for simplicity.
Does it matter? I really can’t see there being a major canon reason for him not having the emblem in a trailer.

That, or probably the scene takes place before the events of Halo 4 (just after Halo 3), considering that the Arbiter is also using the same armor as the original trilogy instead of the gold one. Probably Locke wasn’t an ONI agent yet. Just theories.

I remember hearing that that was because they hadn’t created a CGI model for the Arbiter’s new armor and used the H2A model for a placeholder. Or, it could just be that Arby’s armor in Escalation was simply ceremonial in nature and wasn’t his main armor set.
But either way, I doubt that the H2A-H5G hybrid trailer took place before Halo 5.

Definitely different from other Spartan-IV’s serial numbers.

I now what you mean man. When they gave us the title to halo 5 guardians, I noticed that you took the date 5/16/14 (the day we got a picture of halo 5) and added those numbers together. you would get the number 35. now divide by seven… you get 5 for halo 5… or I’m seeing things.

Thorne’s was 83920-91083-GT, and Locke’s is 00-6221-3. They’re certainly different.
Come to think of it, these service numbers all follow a specific formula: [5 digits]-[5 digits]-[initials]. Locke’s doesn’t. We’re probably not seeing a serial number, but something else entirely. However, I don’t know if it’s very relevant.

Ditto. I’m at the point where I associate the number 7 with Halo itself, and keep looking to find 7 references in it. Heck, I find myself using the number a lot in my own writing and art - it’s rubbed off on me, I admit.

8221 - 3 (minus 3) = 8218
8218 / 7 = 1174.
