In the trash, where it belongs. /s

In all seriousness, it’s probably going to be a post-launch addition. I don’t think it’d really fit into Infinite’s current sandbox.

the SMG has always been a stand in for the halo CE ar, With hope it will be in the game as a good spray and pray suppressing weapon, especially if it has its ODST varriant.

Would be nice if the SMG was the ODST variant from the start, giving it a niche with not appearing on radar when firing, making it the flankers weapon.

I can guarantee we haven’t seen a good majority of the guns that are going to be there at launch so I think it’s a good possibilty it will be there. If not it’s definitely going to be coming later but I do hope it’s a more stand out weapon instead of being a faster but weaker AR. I’d be fine if it even was just the ODST smg that returned.

It was lost in 343’s purge to make the game less fun.

What are you smoking? infinite is the most fun I have had with halo sense reach.

343’s “necessary weapons only” mentality if awful. All games have some sort of redundancy and removing og weapons simply because they are a little redundant is hella lame

the ‘necessary weapons only’ mentality is actually them calling out the sandbox purists, as the game goes on we will get more weapons with overlapping rolls.

Blame the sandbox purists who complain every time a new weapon was added to halo 5.

I’m sure we’ll get it somewhere down the line if it isn’t there at launch. They’re planning to support this game for a long time, it’ll get more guns as the time goes on.

I kind of like it, now weapons I pick up actually feel like they have meaning beyond the “better version of gun I currently have” mentality born from having 5 precision weapons that all do the same thing. Choices are much more significant now, and cutting down on redundant weapons seems to be a sad but necessary side effect of that.

The problem was that in the beginning of Halo 5 the SMG was a beast, especially in breakout, people got angry, complained to 343 and they decided to nerf it, the joke was that they nerfed it so much until it became a useless weapon, I can’t tell you why they removed it from infinite, but well, it’s probably because of what I told you here.

Don’t believe everything you hear. Ascend hyperion bs’d hard with that video. Nobody was complaining about the sandbox being redundant in halo and if they were they were the minority and rightfully so. There can be different weapons of different niches in the game. It’s ridiculous for 343 to remove weapons that not only create no harm, but also in some ways are different. The dmr can coexist with the br, the saw and smg can coexist with the ar, the plasma rifle can coexist with any automanic human weapon, the list goes on. This was never a problem and 343 didnt “call out” anyones bluff. They are once again trying to fix what isnt broken.

Ascent who? I just know it from idiots that I talk to.

The SMG may not be in the game on its release, but there is always the possibility of it being added post-launch in a content update. 343i know we want some of the more familiar weapons back like the Magnum and classic shotgun, so we shall see.

As it stands I don’t think it would fit in the current sandbox but I hope they add it after launch.

We’ve already seen all the weapons that will be in on launch, minus variants.

He’s a YouTuber. Pretty much said the following thing you said word-for-word.

It might make a return, when the Flights were active the Needler was labeled as an SMG when hovering over it so I really do think it has a chance of returning

I dont really see what point the SMG has, in Halo 2-3, it was mainly just “the dual wieldable assault rifle”, and in Halo Reach and 4, it wasn’t there at all, but in 4 and 5, it was replaced by the SAW, which i think would be a better addition then the SMG, as they are rather similar.

I want to take this opportunity to say that I wish in the future that 343i ends up adding more and more weapons to Halo Infinite even though these are redundant for the gameplay, perhaps leaving them available for the academy, forge and custom games, but that they add more and more existing weapons in the Halo universe and its variants.
