Wheres the PC Hype?

Scrolling through I haven’t seen any posts about the PC release… Look I dont know about you Xbox players but I am extremely hyped for a halo PC release. I havent played Halo since I got rid of my 360 back in 2012. Really miss the series. Played halo CE through halo 4 and I gotta say my most cherished memories from all of the series include getting full hayabusa armor in 3, making custom maps and abusing glitches in reach and 3, and playing firefight mode in Reach constantly, also discovering easter-eggs in reach that completely broke the campaign sometimes; I think everyone remembers the Pelican and Phantom easteregg that you would have to get the jetpack and stand on top of a friends falcon or banshee to press the buttons.

I mean sure there will be downsides because it isn’t 2010 anymore so triple A games will have tons of micro-transactions and expensive dlc but It might be worth it to put up with it to just get a modern authentic halo experience once again.

Side Note:
It would really suck if Microsoft forced PC players to buy gold just to play Infinite online. I highly doubt they will because they cant alienate any more players due to their current market share, and besides it would be pointless to force PC players to buy gold because the “benefits” you get with it don’t apply to PC

There’s probably no hype surrounding the PC release because we hardly know anything about the game itself, aside from it having a pretty artstyle and a fresh new engine.

A ton of these threads haven’t necessarily been hype threads anyhow. Mostly just wishlists, and what people think the game needs to do "right".

I’ve seen many threads regarding Infinite on PC, here and elsewhere. But we are a long way off so not much is being discussed on that front.
All we know is that it will come to PC day and date, Play Anywhere very likely.

It’s way too early anyway.

As a sidenote, MP is free on PC, no Gold fees for any Microsoft games on Windows, Infinite won’t be any different I’m sure of it.

Maybe once we know and see more of the game the PC hype will get bigger. Think of it as a PC gamer who has never played Halo before. They see a tech demo and that’s it, woohoo. Xbox players are hyped because we’ve been playing Halo this whole time and are bored of H5. For PC players there’s nothing to be excited about just yet. Also the H5 forge I’ve heard is pretty bad on PC so that’s already bad rep down before Infinite even comes out.

EDIT: Another thing I forgot to mention; it’s a W10 only game, I’m sure that already turns off a huge portion of the PC community.

I started Halo on PC both CE and 2, I would love to have INFINITE on PC. I understand why there is not much hype, because PC gamer wanted Halo on PC for a very very long time, but now it’s a bit late, because most of them don’t care anymore. Besides, if they never played Halo after Halo 2, then it’s very hard for them to get a grasp of the story, and to tell them to buy a Xbox one to play the earlier games is a bit much.

I’m glad the PC crowd will finally have a Halo, but I prefer consoles myself

I doubt that. Windows 10 is the most popular OS if the Steam stats are accurate.
Clearly, Windows 10 is nowhere near a turn off, the exclusivity to the Windows Store could turn off some people but that’s exactly why The Master Chief Collection on PC needs to happen, without games of that caliber on the store it will never take off properly.

From what I’ve heard the general consensus is that the PC community doesn’t like it when something is W10 only as they are blindly “steam only” or are still on W7, same kind of situation with things like uplay and origin. But, I’m not part of that community so it could be that I’ve just heard this from a vocal minority.

  1. W10 sits at something like 70% going by Steam stats, look it up. So clearly Windows 10 is not the issue.
  2. The “Steam or nothing” sentiment exists, but Microsoft should not give in to that. They should bolster their store with high profile releases, like the MCC and Sunset Overdrive.

I have no trouble imagining the MCC to be very successful on PC, whenever it materializes, even with it being restricted to the Windows Store.
It should never be used to discourage Microsoft from bringing mainline Halos on PC at least, I’ve seen that faux-concern among those who are primarily concerned that the Xbox is losing its exclusives.
Gaming means Windows and Xbox for Microsoft, time to come to term with that fact.

Halo Infinite on PC will sell very sell no question but if Microsoft are serious they should bring the MCC along.

When do you guys think some new info on Infinite will come?

I’m guessing we’ll get a trailer like Gears 5 at E3 2019. So no release date, but a bunch of gameplay and a story preview.

That’s still 30% that can’t even buy it. But I’m not saying they should release it on steam, competition is good. Was just trying to think of reasons why there might not be much hype around the PC release.

I am really hyped for cross play.

I would not be concerned about those 30%. And the reason why there is not so much hype is because…We barely know anything about the game. It’s way too early to kick the hype machine into gear.
Don’t worry about it, Microsoft made the right call by not making Infinite a Xbox exclusive.

Theres not much to discuss. It’s on PC yay.

And I’m someone who will be getting it for pc.

I actually said that in my original comment (about it being too early).
I love that it’s coming to PC, I’d love it if it was on PS4 too but only if it would be cross play. Switch as well if they could make it run. Sadly that won’t happen though, competition and all that.

PS4 would be senseless, Microsoft are absolutely right about treating their PC customers right, Windows is their platform, the Microsoft Store is their storefront.
No such things on PS4, which is very much competition unlike Windows which I see as a compliment. It’s not a threat to the Xbox business because PC versions of Microsoft games don’t sell as much (Microsoft Store exclusive after all), and there is no Gold fee on PC, not to mention the fact that PC gaming is by very essence more risky than a console.

In that configuration Windows is a neat addition to the Xbox ecosystem.

I’m a PC player and have been for the past seven years. I still buy every new console from Microsoft and find myself ONLY buying the Halo games. If Halo Infinite and all the rest of the future Halo games were to be released in the Windows 10 store it would save myself and probably thousands of others from being forced to purchase a console. I think it is safe to say that the traditional “gaming console” is dying. People want more than one use out of a $300 - $400 console. With a PC at least you have a bunch of other uses for it. The Xbox itself is becoming more useful by being able to have other apps such as YouTube, Netflix, etc. I really wonder if we will see the Xbox itself becoming more of a OS than an individual console in the future.

Consoles will always have a place. They are casual and accessible machines.
PC is definitely more intimidating, I don’t see Microsoft backtracking on their Windows 10 gaming initiative, trains with this momentum are very hard to stop.

Infinite will be on PC, and likely future Halos as well. The real question pertains to older, legacy Halo titles. Will those be released on PC ? The Master Chief Collection could, but Halo 5 will likely remain Xbox exclusive.

This will be interesting to see what they do. I for one have zero interest in playing halo MP on consoles against PC players who have a CLEAR advantage over console gamers. As long as they have an on/off feature, I think people would be ok with it.
