I’ve seen several hundred page long threads about Custom Game options sucking wind in a vacuum.
But how come nobody is talking about how fast weapons despawn?
It happens in Campaign, SOps, and MP. It effects normal and Power Weapons equally and frankly weapons are set to despawn too dam fast. If you die in SOps or MP, consider whatever PW you had gone. Because it’ll despawn before you can get back to it.
I know that it’s to keep the game running smoothly because of the increase in amount of stuff to draw compared to Reach. But what is a slap in the face is that corpses will stay around longer than weapons. Power weapons do not get a significantly longer timer than normal weapons. There’s no “reset” to the timer if you stay in proximity to a weapon or pick it up occasionally.
It’s people like you who like to see complaining huh? the weapons do go away quickly but I’m fine with it considering the amout of power weapons you’ll get a game.
it would be alittle hypocritical for people to say they hate how there are too many power weapons then turn around and say they hate how power weapons disappear to fast.
Just because you haven’t seen people complaining about, doesn’t mean they aren’t. There have already been much mentioning about this. I don’t like that they despawn too quick either. Trust me, it’s out there.
It’s just not as popular as customs.
@Above
There for 2 minutes? What game are you playing.
> They’re there for at least a good two minutes, more than enough time to pick up the power weapon.
I think OP means that the power weapon despawns quickly after you die with it, so if you pick up the sniper rifle and die then you only have about 10-15 seconds to get it back before it dissapears. Also your body lasts 50%-100% longer then your gun so it kinda feels riduculous
Yeah, its a pain in the -Yoink-, don’t know whether or not it was addressed in the Custom games options thread and I’ve see little threads addressing it, but it is an issue. Like immediately after you respawn you have to go after your gun or its gone. It is a pain.
My real issue is with them despawning in campaign. There are times when gathering a stockpile of weapons in a certain area before triggering the next checkpoint is a good idea. It really mad me sad the first time I tried this and realized my time spent was for naught.
Campaign and SPOPS this is done due to 7 year old hardware and the graphics level they achieved. Halo 5 this won’t be present in Campaign or SPOPS.
As for War Games Multiplayer with global and personal ordnance it is imperative they despawn the weapons quickly as far too many power weapons would be in play. It’s already an issue when in BTB the random personal ordnance ends up giving 3 or more snipers in once match all that the same time. Then a global ordnance sniper spawns as well. If you add the increased ammo package then it becomes detrimental to gameplay.
IMO they should:
For Infinity settings: tweak the personal ordnance to factor in how many power weapons of a certain type are in play or on spawn or about to spawn so they avoid the random build up of too many weapons at once.
For classic settings: remove personal ordnance obviously and increase the despawn time so weapons stay on the ground after a kill. Doesn’t doubles do this already? If not they should update Forge/settings so this works just like real classic.

I’m not joking, it’s probably a miscalculation or my luck.
Also, OP, if you mean AFTER you respawn without the power weapon the next time in MM, then you raise a significant issue that needs to be fixed.
I played custom games with one friend who was using a sniper rifle, and I had an Incineration Cannon. He got a headshot, but he didn’t go for my weapon. When I got back to where I died, my cannon was gone.
Good post OP!

It has to be like this because of instant respawn. I don’t want to have to kill a team’s sniper 6 times before that sniper is out of the game because the kid keeps instant spawning and picking it up.
It is part of the problem that is the whole game. Instant respawns + killstreaks + random map ordnances = despawn faster. This is what has to happen when you get cod/halo
FACT: Dead bodies in mp have a longer despawn time than weapons. There is, however, a perfectly good explanation for this: personal ordinance. There’s a lot of power weapons on the map at once, so we can’t have very long despawn time, otherwise a whole team could each have a sniper rifle, or other sort of power weapon.
You suggesting the issue needs a thread spanning 50+ pages and a wall of Thanks?
Elites in MP, a huge loss.
Customs options, a huge loss.
Fast deloading, this isn’t too much of a big deal, though it’s very annoying, especially considering the fact that dead bodies remain longer.
Pretty much everything deloads quickly in Halo 4. AI, vehicles, hell I just got the Mammoth to deload (only a matter of time before the Lich is gone as well).

Clearly you haven’t been following the newer playlists and tweaks. At any rate with diverse playlists we can cater to community segments who enjoy many styles of Halo 4 gameplay:
Classic Arena
Infinity
Grifball
CTF/Objective
Flood
Customs (I admit this is lacking for customs but IMO they should ditch Forge and just release PC editing tools).
The reason behind quick cleanup is probably why there isn’t much complaining about it and probably won’t be as big a deal for H5 since it will be next-gen…Framerate.
I would love to see H5 where every weapon, corpse & vehicle debris stays on the field the entire time…but with current-gen tech I just don’t think it’s possible.

you make it sound like this is all part of 343’s great plan ! it isn’t.
it’s a last ditch attempt to save mm. this game is what happens when MS accountants decide what a game needs to beat cod.
It was done so framerate wouldn’t be affected during matches. Since weapons are dynamic objects that can be picked up, I imagine it takes a lot more processing power to have them lying around than corpses. It’s an unfortunate trade-off for the game having such good graphics, and people HAVE been complaining about it. However, I imagine it won’t be an issue on the next XBox.
