I just dont see what Microsoft is waiting for? i mean wouldnt it make sense to start advertising now so that more people have a chance to see these advertisements?

I think Microsoft knows how to do their job.
There is still plenty of time for marketing.
And what about FUD? I think it will be the best advertisement… but i still miss any amazing live action trailer like reach’s one
I would expect some serious advertising sometime in October, because alot is going to be going down that month 
Hype can die pretty quickly. If you start a marketing campaign too early, the target audience could lose interest by the time the product comes out.
I think october we will see some.
The marketing for Reach was great, like in (i think?!) >UK where they use Jetpacks and any more cool stuff.
Hopefully it will be something similar for Halo 4.
Maybe a walking Chief trough a city, like LA or NY or a other big city.
It would be cool, if they do a live demonstration with Chief in a Warthog and he drives on the Time Square

I just remember the awesome tv spot for Halo 3 and the legendary “finish the fight” at the end… and despite it wasn’t a live action trailer like Reach’s it was so intense and emotional, with that incredible music, a lot of time spent in it and artwork behind. At least I expect for Halo 4 a commercial with same quality 
I totally agree. I’ve been seeing commercials and other ads everywhere for months now, for AC3, Borderlands 2, Black Ops 2, Far Cry 3 and several others coming soon but I haven’t yet to see anything for Halo 4. Advertising for big games usually started several months before release. I remember when Uncharted 3 came out, I was seeing ads like almost 6 months before it came out. As well as all of the ones I already listed. Even Reach was advertised several months in advance. And Halo 3. We’ve got 2 months left and we’ve had nothing. Sure, Forward Unto Dawn will be awesome but it isn’t directly advertising the game. But indirect advertising is better than nothing, I guess. It’d be better if they had some gameplay trailers, though, so more people could easily be able to see gameplay. Just my two cents.
EDIT: Heck, gameplay trailers are probably more important for 343 since they’ve never made a game before. I think even more people would want to buy it if they can freely see the game and see if they think it looks good. FuD isn’t going to show them the game.
EDIT2: And actually, I just thought of something that adds to that. I have a friend who used to be a diehard gamer. He played all the time (especially Halo) but he does a lot of stuff now and only has so much time to game. I asked him about a month ago, if he was excited about Halo 4 and his response was, “What? Bungie’s making Halo 4?”. Not only did he not know Bungie left but he had never heard about Halo 4. And it’s people like that, that more marketing could help draw back in. He watches a ton of tv, so more tv spots would be a great idea.

I do feel like they started advertising for the other Halos a lot earlier. They had all kinds of commercials running for Halo 3 months before it came out. I remember seeing that believe diorama commercial like every day. And for the entirety of august and september of 2010 I couldn’t turn on the tv without seeing a Reach commercial.
In haloctober it should be when it starts big I guess.
Halo 4 is coming to Holland, that’s never happend before. I think there is enough marketing.
I literally squeal whenever a Halo Ad is played on TV.

THERE IS NO MARKETING! Not a single ad on TV or anywhere! Thats the problem! It has nothing to do with Halo 4 shipping to Holland!
