I couldn’t find anything on Google. If The Pillar of Autumn was abandoned right after the first level then where were the humans running their resistance Campaign from? In Halo 2,3, and 4 we see In Amber Clad, Forward Unto Dawn, and Infinity. These ships serve as the UNSC’s bases, they canonically keep all the weapons, troops, and vehicles you start missions with. The UNSC in Combat evolved doesn’t have such a ship after the Autumn crashed on Halo. Did I miss some piece of dialogue or was Foehammer supposedly picking up random Warthogs and guns she found and giving them to Chief the entire game?
I don’t definitively know if there was a base or not. However, a lot of the Pelicans that made it off the Autumn were loaded with weapons and vehicles. Additionally, the life pods also carried equipment.
This is a good question though and I’d love to know if there was indeed a base of some kind set up somewhere. It would make sense to have a base set up since Chief rescued a bunch of survivors in the second level. So where did they all regroup if not at a base?
According to http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Alpha_Base_(Installation_04)
> Alpha Base was the main tactical Firebase used by the remaining forces after planet fall on Installation 04. It was located on a small mesa several kilometers down-spin from the crash site of the UNSC Pillar of Autumn. The mesa itself housed a collection of Forerunner structures as well as a system of caves stretching beneath the facility and linking with the larger subterranean system of the ring.

Ahh that makes sense. Bit of a spoiler alert, I remember reading about a base in Halo: The Flood, but I guess I forgot the UNSC used it for their base of operations.

Thank you! It was in the back of my head for most of my last playthrough

I believe that cortana also mentions to Foehammer that she should take the survivors to the “command shuttle” after you fend off the waves of covenant at the first marine group in the mission. So there is one mention of alpha base in the game.

Correct me if I’m wrong but we saw a few different places that could have been considered “bases” while playing through Fireteam Raven so that might help answer the question as well

The books explain everything pretty nicely and I have no problem helping answering this so while the autumn was going down I believe it was 6-13 pelican pilots decided to take thier birds instead of escape pods when being ordered to abandon ship they took the pelicans some filled with weapons they took them down the ring while everybody was landing and checking everything out a recon group of odsts found what looked like a great base of operation location a Mesa that’s where they set up shop and where they got all the warthogs And everything else like I said above there were more pelicans they sent troops to the autumn For search and salvage missions hope that helped if you need it better explained the books help the flood would be the one your looking for for this topic
