I am an avid player of Halo but I’ve never quite got into the Halo Wars series and I’m interested in getting into the series now but don’t know where to start. Should I start off with the latest game(Halo Wars 2)? Play both Halo Wars & Halo Wars 2 simultaneously to get a feel of both games? Or simply start from the beginning of the series and work my way up?
No question, start with the first game. The mechanics and story in HW2 are built upon those of the first game.

I played Halo Wars 2 first then tried to play Halo Wars 1 and found it annoying because it was so different and I wasn’t used to it. I’m sure it’s a good game though.

Alright, I’ll take what you said into consideration when I start playing around on both so I can see what parts of the game I may like or dislike in Halo Wars and HW2.

Easily play halo wars 1 then 2…it’s THE way to do it.

Depends on what your looking for tbh if your more so interested into halos lore and story start with the first halo wars but if your strictly for multiplayer purposes halo wars 2 imo is better in every way with more variety.
Definitely Halo Wars 1. I found HW2 too linear in it’s missions and its lack of control it offers players in regards to the troops you’re given. I much prefer base building or at least producing units and HW2 just took it away. I think HW1 can be appreciated more in terms of its story, soundtrack, setting, and art style. Sadly HW2 just didn’t fulfil what I wanted, but the multiplayer is good so if you’re into that look forward to it.
