Is it me or do u guys miss spartan ops??? Yea the idea of if they had a whole other story line for ur personal spartan that to me sounds awesome. Of course if it was a little more personal to us [the gamer] maybe cut scenes and facial customization different voices. No the faces dnt have to be shown all the time jus in some major cut scenes. I enjoyed mission 6 of S.O. when fire team crimson was captured and we escaped i personally felt like i was there. The gamers out there would love to have another campaign espcecially when it shows the time in between halo 5 and 6 so we dnt miss a gap; a co op people can actually feel like they are there in that armor. If halo was to take a page from halo reach with the story line of Spartan ops OMFREAKINGG with all those extra details i through in wow jus amazing. I think this would be crazy good. What do you guys think???
I miss it too.
No, I miss firefight. Firefight at least had a multiplayer feel with the announcer. Spartan ops while kinda similar the banter during game play was just lame, really lame. It was so bad it didn’t make me want to replay them. Also why didn’t the cut scenes even match the missions? Firefight was just better and made you want to keep playing. Spartan ops made you glad when you were done because you didn’t want to play again.
Ya. I was suprized when it wasn’t there. Wish they would bring it back.
I didn’t like spartan ops much…
I liked Spartan Ops. I wish there had been a Season 2 in Halo 4
Either one would do atm.
I was quite vocal with my circle of friends about how much I disliked Spartan Ops. On paper I was in favor of it, you and three others form a Spartan Fireteam and are tasked with various missions across Requiem on the Infinity’s return trip to the Forerunner installation. In practice however it was an exercise in frustration; mindless objectives killing wave after wave of the same enemy type. Everyone I was teaming with agreed that the first half was a load of crap. It did get better with episodes 6 through 10 but by then the damage was done, only one person was even willing to finish the season out with me.
This is when the second problem became apparent; these missions seemed balanced for four players. We forged our way through it all on Heroic, thankfully without Palmer’s hostile anti-intellectualism droning at us to live up to her lofty expectations as the perfect miss badass she was clearly written to be. Jared Miller taking over as mission handler with Roland playing shotgun was a much appreciated respite from Palmer’s overbearing personality. The missions were better structured with better encounters but still the challenge seemed ill-suited for just two players (I still haven’t beaten every mission solo on Legendary). There was good potential here, but the first half dropped the ball so hard and so fast that anything after that was just showing off what could have been.
It doesn’t surprise me that Spartan Ops was dropped, or that the events barely register at all save for Halsey being an amputee by Halo 5. The first mission of Guardians was to effectively sweep those ten episodes under the rug to make way for the real story. One that feels like half a numbered sequel and an entire sidequel haphazardly bolted together.
It doesn’t even need to be Spartan Ops, there is so much potential from a PvE version of Warzone that can implement narrative into it. They already have multiplayer as training simulation, so might as well just implement PvE. Heck, I can see a PvE mode that plays into the lore.
I can understand that Spartan Ops didn’t perform well from the first time, but that didn’t mean there wasn’t room for improvement. It’s kind of unfortunate that they didn’t give it a second try, but with Warzone I feel like there can be something good from this.
Toward part 2 of Season 1 Spartan Ops felt more story like. I wish we did more in the Infinity during the Invasion arc.
I like Firefight more because it was so modular but seriously I’d be happy with either or at this point
I would prefer firefight make a return (I find it to have more replay-ability). I actually think that REQ system from Warzone could work in some fashion in a new firefight mode. That being said I would still be pleased if Spartan-Ops made a return. Really, I would be happy if we got any kind of “co-op vs. the AI” mode.
Spartan Ops was good for one playthrough (especially Episodes 6-10 which was much improved over Episodes 1-5) but after that you’re listening to the same dialogue and watching the same cutscenes and doing the same objectives over and over. There wasn’t any replayability. I’d so much rather have Firefight. Actually what I’d really like is Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer in Halo. Essentially wave based like Firefight, but with objectives mixed in every few waves like activating devices at different locations, taking out certain enemy VIP’s, controlling a territory for an amount of time, retrieving an item from a certain location, escorting a drone, and it ended with defending an extraction point. If we got something like that in Halo I don’t think I’d ever stop playing.
I’d rather have Firefight but I do miss Spartan Ops, I’d be happy with ANYTHING to do right now though.
Anything that would move the story forward. Even if it would involve us once again cleaning up the messes made by the lab coat canaries who were too stupid to keep their hands to themselves. How Halo scientists survive till adulthood i’ll never understand >.<
Just balance the amount of enemies according to player numbers and don’t do any more bulls**t promethean spawns centered around the button someone HAS to press. Oh, and more waves does NOT equal more fun. Original Spartan Ops missions ran twice as long as they needed to and got really boring swatting identical wave after identical wave.
I miss it but lets see what we all get over the next few months.

That would be fantastic in a PvE Warzone variant.
It seemed as though 343 put more effort into Spartan ops than the H4 campaign…

If you want objectives like that, play Spartan Strike. That game does those objectives so much you’ll get tired of em in no time, not that it wasn’t a good game.

Amen brother.
