Where the hell is Lone Wolf / Free For All?

I just went ahead and posted this since the Waypoint forum search feature is essentially useless.

I’ve given 343 a chance. I really have. I don’t like everything they did, but I respect their courage in taking some risks and changing some things with their version of Halo.

What I don’t understand is why something so ubiquitous as a simple free for all slayer game type has been so conspicuously absent from the playlists since launch.

We got Regicide you say? That is NOT true FFA. And now we don’t even have that. Oh but Team Oddball has remained a staple… as if that’s drawing huge crowds.

So what gives? Who do I need to send this gripe to to get a proper response? I’ve been playing Halo since launch of the original Xbox in 2001, and I find it laughably disappointing that 343 has so blatantly dropped the ball on including such a classic and easy gametype to implement.

Wait… really? There isn’t a Lone Wolves playlist?? I always play team games so I’ve never searched for it… but thats a bit shocking.

There are so many weird things that I keep reading about or noticing about Halo4. For instance I didn’t realse you can’t see your secondary weapon in your HUD in Halo4, but other players will be able to see it physically on your body. Weird.

But yeah lack of Lone Wolves is a real shame. Just add it to the pile of classic missing modes like Assault and original CTF.

I’m moving this to the Matchmaking forums. The matchmaking forums will be housing discussions for Halo 4 matchmaking. This includes matters related to Matchmaking Playlists.

For more information why this thread is being moved, please read this for a further explanation. and as always, please feel free to ask questions if you have any.

I miss lone wolves…

My Halo experience did start late, but I did begin in Halo 3 Lone Wolves. Granted I don’t have a 50, but I did claw to a 37 in that playlist with no prior gaming experience.

Regicide was even stated to help newer players catch up. In the special edition of the Halo 4 guide, the interview mentioned how newer players could simply slay the king multiple times to catch up and win. From personal experience, that’s true. I’ve had games where I could break double digits in K/D spread, yet I would lose to a player that didn’t break even or almost did. Due to that I’ve had to change my strategy in Regicide, letting a player take the lead just so I could slay him later.

Regicide punishes players that slay well. A traditional FFA should take its place so players can strive to get better legitimately.

Depending on the map, I have more fun as king and the waypoint just funnels kills toward my boltshot. Then my enemies start spawning with boltshot… Bringing me ammo, ain’t that so kind of them?

To be honest, I’ve never played a lot of FFA game types, even in the past, just because I enjoy playing with friends and working together as a team. That being said I really don’t mind regicide FFA, its a different take and keeps everyone on their toes, and keeps certain players from camping during a match since everyone is looking for kills as you can get behind quick in regicide.

Now back to the point at hand; I believe in the recent bulletin they mentioned some type of FFA/Lone Wolves type of playlist would be coming. Now don’t quote me on that, but I believe I saw something in the bulletin or someones forum post about the recent bulletin. But check it out and maybe that will give ya some answers…sorry I’m too lazy to actually search to copy and paste the URL to this post.
