Where The Blam Is Theater?

Hello does anyone know anything about theater?

Please tell me that you can watch films with your friends again.

I have no link but I remember Bungie did a Q&A and some one asked did you fix the problem with film clips in theater? They replied with a yes. But they didn’t say they fixed the problem by completely eliminating the chance of watching a film with someone.

I think that is so blaming ridiculous.

Anyway I am just posting this to see how many other people would love to see theater back in full form not some step backwards trash version of what theater was and to see if people have info that won’t make me throw a milk carton at my wall.

Hopefully we get some info on it in the next update or something. Really, I just want the multi-person viewing back.

Yeah man that was my whole point. Something tells me you read the first sentence and than replied…

You can’t view films with friends in Halo 4.
It was always too buggy, and was taken out for good reason.

Yup. A more talented team is needed to implement it.

I never heard the reasons…

No, it wasn’t.

Watching a full length film was very smooth and had no problems.

Only film clips had an issue because the way they get saved and shared was extremely poorly coded. Add to that Bungie thought the 10 people who wanted to make campaign film clips were more important than the tens of thousands who watched full length games.

It was always to “buggy” really? Only film clips were you don’t fix problems by running away from them bungie was lazy. Plus COD seems to do it just fine…

CoD has a completely different engine and theater system…

COD runs on a different engine, though. The coding may be different. Besides, the quality of COD’s engine isn’t as good as Halo, in my opinion.

No, that’s Def true. But, Treyarch changes stuff up for the better so hopefully that one will be awesome too

Okay… I see your point but its really irrelevant. I’m sure they encountered problems testing and were creative enough to fix them not see a obstacle and in the way a stand and stare.

Not sure what you mean, exactly.

…u srs, bro?

Neither myself, or anyone I’ve played with has ever watched a full length game with other people in H3. Ever.

On the other hand, Campaign nonsense is far more entertaining, and while I cant watch my silly things with friends, people share the HELL outta campaign goofs and silly stuff.

I’m more interested as to whether we can navigate the films easier/quicker. Had to sit there for maybe 15 minutes once just to fast-forward to the 5 minute part I wanted to actualy record.

Nearly every single game I’ve played in Halo 3 where someone did something amazing we would immediately go into theater to watch it.

This is true for many many people especially competitive people. The amount of people who wanted to make clips in campaign is negligible compared to the number that watched films in parties in Halo 3.

No, it’s not irrelevant. It has everything to do with it. Because it’s a different engine, it runs on completely different coding. The two engines are more likely to have problems with different things than the other engine. Because of the Halo Campaign netcoding, it makes Theater very difficult to work with. To solve this, they would have to undo years worth of work and it’s just not worth it for the time being.

CoD, on the other hand, doesn’t have online campaign co-op, so it has less to worry about.

There are three reasons to use Theater:

  1. Taking screenshots.
  2. Rendering films for viewing online.
  3. Watching clips with friends.

#1 was the most common use case, but #3 was the second-most-common use case. With #3 taken out and #2 available only to people that paid an extra regular fee, Theater lost much of its appeal in Reach.

Hopefully, multi-person viewing returns in Halo 4, but I’ve not heard any official word on it.

Just because you and your friends did it doesn’t mean everyone else did it as well…

That might be true in your experience; however, I can attest that, like Attila, neither I nor my friends ever cared to watch multiplayer clips in theater together (or at all, really)
