My favorite thing to play is CTF in Halo. I’ve always played MLG or Arena playlists. Now there is only one ranked playlist that has CTF and its only on 2 maps. But more than that its teh general lack of OBJ in any ranked playlists. Slayer is the most common gametype in Arena. Than there is an Doubles - mainly slayer. Swat, entirely slayer. FFA, obviously all slayer. And than there is Elimination, which does have some OBJ in it, but that is pretty unique. (Personally I wish that they would add the Extermination style respawn on breakout flag but thats another matter). This is too much Slayer imo.
What I wish they would do is rename “Arena” - “HCS.” And than make Team Slayer Team Arena. Team Arena would have a mix of Slayer, Bomb, and Flag and maybe StrongHolds too I guess. But it would heavily feature the maps not played in HCS and when it did they would be with a different gametype perhaps.
And lastly I would LOVE it if BTB would be ranked. I just can’t play these social playlists.
We have been asking for this for ages I just wanna play obj when I play arena I don’t enjoy slayer but it gets pushed on us hopefully for infinite it gets sorted I miss fathom flag all I get is coli slayer and truth slayer
Agreed, im switching to cod bo4 soon and leave halo. I really love the concept of halo but the multiplayer is kinda out of place in halo 5 in the meaning of mmr, ranking, playlist and maps. but cod knows how to make decent playlist and better mmr for an overall more fun experience

The only thing I’m asking for is an all OBJ playlist no slayer at all. Even while doing objectives your still slaying. The game is built on slaying, but there are just to many playlist where we’re just…well, SLAYING!
I believe you are mistaken. From my count there are more objective variants in team arena than there are slayer. I find I get objective way more than slayer, perhaps you have just had a bad roll of the RNG. My count is:
Capture the Flag: 3(Truth, Coliseum, Refuge) - Oddball: 3(Eden, Fissure, Echelon) - Strongholds: 4(Plaza, The Rig, Empire, Eden) - Slayer: 5 *(Truth, Plaza, The Rig, Refuge, Coliseum)*As far as objective is concerned it’s a 10:5 or 2:1 ratio. There’s effectively double the likelihood you’re going to play an objective game type. Mind you, who knows whether they have different weighting for certain game types or maps. I feel like they had weighting towards the newer 3 maps when they came out but that might have changed. That being said, I think the game is too old to introduce an objective only playlist. The balancing of objective only playlists isn’t quite there for H5. It needs larger maps with some vehicles to better mimic previous games if it wants to go that route.
I’ve never understood why there was Slayer in that playlist in the first place. Granted, one can make the argument that there is an objective to Slayer, but why have a dedicated playlist and also add it to another playlist that, based on its name, doesn’t imply Slayer will be present?
There already is a Team Arena playlist called Core Play which is social and it’s a rotational playlist. Unless you don’t care about quitters, BTB wouldn’t work that great as a ranked playlist.

Oh yeah, there are 3 CTFs in Arena with Refuge not 2… I forgot about that. But you’re confused about the ratio thing. I wasn’t saying Slayer outnumbered everything combined. No argument there. I’m saying that Slayer is the most commmon of the gametypes. And this is another matter, but StrongHolds is probably my least favorite of the OBJs too and it is a bummer that a cool gametype like Extraction from H4 gets replaced with this imo. But that is another story.

Ranked would prevent quitters. You have it switched around. There will still be quitters. I get them in every session of Arena I play. Doesn’t mean the solution is to remove rank. That just makes it worse.

Sorry I’m still a bit confused. Do you mean the most common among all playlists? Sure, of course, due to the Slayer Playlist.I think my ideal playlist lineup would be MLG/competitive, Slayer, Objective, FFA, and Doubles as the primary ranked playlists. But that’s coming from someone that likes to play more competitively and has zero interest in the ranked prospects of SWAT, Breakout/Elimination, and Team Snipers. The thing is there are so many variants people like and the tradeoff is if they make too many the population will be too low and there will inevitably be even more problems than if one of the playlists didn’t exist in the first place. For what it’s worth I think Team Arena (MLG/HCS) more than fills the void for the objective playlist, even if the type of objective games aren’t everyone’s favourite. Also there was some interesting experimentation with Extraction in Halo 5. I believe Vetoed did a youtube video on a custom setup for the game type that was made.
Regardless, I feel for you. I do recall the Objective playlist being one of the less popular in Halo 3 though (the longest queue times to find matches). It was a fun and interesting playlist to get a 50 in though.

While I love the idea of a pure objective playlist, and I see many people here posting the same ideas, I’ve also seen firsthand in Halo 4 and Reach that no one (7 is literally a large number in the case of Halo 4) goes in those playlists. If I want objective in those games, I always have to go into BTB and pray.
I think Halo 4 was a bad example to go by though. They broke the playlist up into gaemtype specific stuff and plus they screwed all the obj stuff up. Ball being thrown around & not being able to drop the flag. H4 dropped soooo low in population. The only thing it did well, imo, was BTB.
Its very odd that we can’t play Bomb in any ranked playlist.

Wait, isn’t BTB unranked right now?
I think what Lukepowa was saying that there will still be quitters if BTB became ranked. And therefore, if you care about that, it’ll be bad for you.

Wat?
I know ranked wouldn’t prevent quitters because that was the main complaint when BTB was ranked in H5 which is why I believe the ranks were removed. The other problem with ranked is needing tight skill matching and that’s a problem when the population isn’t there. They already had to loosen up the skill matching even more in the last few months due to that. When social BTB had tighter skill matching, better teams could barely find games and that caused a lot of them to quit playing, play in small parties or to play solo. Having it ranked will likely make it so they can’t find games again and if they do it will just be lopsided games which some playlists in ranked already experience.

Yeah, I play solo. That would be alright with me. But they dont’ want to pull people away from Warzone. They didn’t even launch the game with BTB. There is an invisible rank but it would pull too many away from WZ if they added a rank.
This is why they should have kept Core Play as a core playlist. They removed it from social, so we don’t have easy access to the core of Halo 5’s gameplay. We have sub-par game modes, and ranked arena is full of magmums and nothing else. There’s no way to experience all that the game has to offer anymore. It’s been thrown away, for no reason at all.
