We have all seen the commercial, of both master chief or locke on the ground, with the other holding a gun to their face, ready to shoot. I don’t know if I fell asleep during a cutscene or skipped a part, but the story seemed sort of all over the place. Now don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed playing as both teams and got the “gist” of what was going on but the game did a very poor job in explaining what exactly is happening in that universe. Once I understood it all and reached the end, I swear most of what happened in this game was sort of meaningless, save for a couple of missions. But back to the initial problem… where the -Yoink- was that scene… Is there more coming in DLC?
The advertisements were certainly misleading. Has almost nothing to do with the game
It wasn’t in the game. The adds dont directly connect.
Do you remember the Believe trailers from Halo 3? With Chief getting captured by Brutes? Did THAT happen?
Or Halo 4’s Scanned. Was chief ever hung from his arms in a forcefield and scanned by the Didact? No.
Same thing here.
Yeah but if you listen to the hunt the truth podcasts, it’s awesome. Too bad it doesn’t tie in with the game much.
I was highly disappointed in the ending. Where did cortana go? What about the rest of the guardians and those that had already left? It seems like a half finished game to me
Exactly, I feel like the game overall had a huge lead up… to a disappointing ending. Now I am sure they have an ultimate story line set in store for Halo 6… but I honestly feel like Halo 4’s story was better than 5’s… in the sense that it had great chemistry between cortana and Chief, had a decent boss fight, and the last mission was very fun. Halo 5, I didnt feel much of the same build up during the last few missions. It was just bland. Hope they can deliver on the sixth, starting with a recap of what the -Yoink- is going on because I know I am not the only one confused, before doing some extra searching.
I don’t understand why so many people thought the ads were part of the game, they looked nothing like the gameplay, nor cut scenes we were shown. They were LIVE ACTION. We had trailers like this for Halo 3, ODST, Reach, and Halo 4. ALL of those and maybe even more. It boggles my mind that people thought it was in the game. And especially don’t start talking about that first E3 trailer in the desert because they said 2 years ago when they showed it that it was NOT actually part of Halo 5 and it was just made because they always had 2 years of Halo at E3 before launch

> The advertisements were certainly misleading. Has almost nothing to do with the game
Ya in an interview with one of the developers he was being asked why some of the trailers had nothing to do with the game he said something along the lines of, the advertising department was only trying to get hype in the best way possible even if that included miss leading the buyers and they did a good job at selling the game. That was not a direct quote that was just the main idea of the question asked in the interview.
In the Hunt the Truth Discussion Thread, I elaborated on why people think Hunt the Truth is misleading. In truth, it’s not misleading. Here is how Hunt the Truth ties into Halo 5: Guardians: Benjamin Giraud was tasked with giving the profile for Master Chief, but stumbled onto inconsistencies in ONI’s story thanks to Thomas Wu. In Episode 104 (Season 1 Episode 04), Ben contacts Mshak Moradi and Mshak goes into great detail about possible rumors of Chief’s possibility of being AWOL/Traitor (In game, one can justify Chief did disobey orders and some of his actions led him down traitorous paths.), but later on in that same episode he discusses “anomalies”, but Giraud cuts him off because he was summoned to ONI HQ in Boston. Later down the road in Episode 108, Mshak brings up these anomalies again and in Episode 109 he brings them up again FERO interrupts him. Now fast forward to Season 2: In nearly every episode the anomalies were brought up at least 1 time. My point is that Hunt the Truth is not a Hunt the Truth about Master Chief, but a Hunt the Truth into ONI’s lies about the Spartan 2 Program and the anomalies; the anomalies are the things that Hunt the Truth was trying to get us to understand since they were going to be in Halo 5.
Now, you asked about the ads: (Here they are in order.)
Halo 5 Teaser Trailer: This ad definitely relates to the game in nearly every way. In the ad we see Chief standing on an unknown planet in an unknown area where he is holding Cortana’s chip. Later on in the ad we see a Guardian pop out of the ground and that’s it. This is cut and dry: Chief knows, except us, that Cortana is on the Guardians and is controlling them.
E3 2014: We see an ad narrated by the Arbiter telling of Chief and how Locke needs to “do more than walk in his footsteps” and then later Arbiter says “for he is more than the sum of his actions” and once more he gives a big giveaway “because the seeds of our future, are sewn in his past”. This relates to the campaign in a big way as each step Chief took was with Cortana and Cortana’s decisions drastically affects Chief’s decisions so he needs to understand Chief and Cortana before he can help Chief. Note that this ad never told Locke and Chief would be fighting.
BULLET: In this ad you see a bullet with specific characteristics about Chief, some alleged and some fact. This ad was just a precursor to what Giraud would later try to disprove and what Chief was accused of being. In reality, this could just be seen as a classic hype ad and has no influence on the story.
Locke and Chief Ads (TWD Season Finale Ad): This ad is classic hype. There is no bearing on Hunt the Truth or in game to justify this ad. This is just obvious hype that was made 7 months from release.
A Hero Falls: THIS WAS ONI PROPAGANDA! Check huntthetruth.tumblr.com and read the statement released by Sully.
Master Chief Rises: This was the official account that A Hero Falls didn’t reveal. In the trailer, ONI even admits to sending Locke out and wants to “take out” the Master Chief. Also, they never said they would kill Chief, but ONI thinks Chief is helping Cortana and once Locke realizes that he didn’t his objective changed.
Ultimately, you can pin all these ads as ONI propaganda against the Chief since he went AWOL but again Hunt the Truth was never about uncovering if Chief is a traitor, Halo 5 was and we know he isn’t because…
Cortana is the traitor.Hope I clarified it and thanks if you read through all of it…if you have a question just ask.

Thats very interesting… mind linking me to where I can watch these episodes?
Sure. The link is huntthetruth.tumblr.com. You can listen to the episodes and see pictures there that help tie the story together a bit. You can also look it up on Soundcloud or iTunes.
Remember the first trailer of Halo 5?
It wasn’t in the campaign, just like “HuntTheTruth”.
So maybe all this will be in the Halo 6 campaign.
Seems like it was made up hype!!
dissapointing!!
Hunt the truth and the mentioned advertisements were campaigns advertising the almost non-existent tensions between Osiris and Chief. Honestly this tension, or the lack of, was the biggest story disappointment in the franchise.
We are still talking about this?
Very disappointing. It was as if the promotional ads and Hunt the Truth came from an alternate universe of our lives that actually had that awesome sounding story. None of it happened in Halo 5. Overall, Halo 5 was terrible.

lol, I randomly thought about “Hunt the Truth” when a coworker was talking about Halo today, brought me to this forum post lol.
It never existed. It was an oni cover up story that we still have yet to decipher.
Do not revive old threads, please and thank you.
