Where is Pitfall located?

The original Pit was a training facility somewhere in South Africa, but based on the skybox, Pitfall is definitely somewhere else. There are two very large/close moons and one of them is destroyed. Any ideas?

A desolate planet with two moons one of which is destroyed probably Pluto

Yeah it’s clearly Pluto.

Such information has not been revealed, but Pitfall is a bunch of UNSC combat facilities.

However, the map we’re playing on is part of the Infinity’s War Games training simulations, really hoped I helped somewhat

Reach has 2 moons and was glassed by the covenant which would explain the desert, th epislon eridani system also has one star.

Nice catch.

But for all we know, the map could be located in any desert or glassed planet in the many locales in the Halo Universe.

I wish it was on earth were the covenant glassed the portal to the ark so we could like see it in the background or something.

The skybox and scenery vaguely reminds me of the Halo 5 trailer.

Where in the canon was Pluto destroyed? Was much attention given to it, or was it a passing note?

Or outside of it. You never know when the Didact will open up a portal to Narnia.

Is it possible it’s the site of where Spartan Assault takes place around?

Draetheus V had only one moon, though. The map being on Draetheus V would explain the abandoned UNSC base and the volcanic activity in the distance, as well as the sinkhole in the center of the airfield. Being on X50 would also explain the shattered ‘planet’(Draetheus V, in some areas the crust was lifting off the planet), but as I remember, X50 is also an arctic moon (the destruction of the Forerunner weapon might have after-effects to the moon’s environment, though).

I actually believe it is meant as a ‘take that’ by some holo-deck script-kiddie instructor due to the dilapidated condition of the map (Red side fallen into disrepair -half of Red Base is crushed by girders- and Blue side overrun by vines*). As the description for the Halo 3 map states: “Software simulations are held in contempt by the veteran instructors who run these training facilities.” So this programmer was out on leave, ran into some of these veterans at a bar, got owned, then made this simulation as if to say: “Well grandpas, this is what will eventually happen to your training facilities. With the holodeck, maps can constantly be remodeled and will never deteriorate. WHAT DO YOU SAY NOW, OLD TIMERS?” Of course, this will spark ill will between the old guard and holodeck operators, but…

*After reading Silentium, and seeing the vines creeping everywhere on Blue side, maybe those vines are really dormant Flood tentacles, the volcanoes are spore mountains, and the reason why the moon (or planet) has been split in half is to stop the spread of the Flood (NOVA deployment?).

I believe it’s called trolling.

I like the Reach idea. But honestly, I don’t like the “canon in multiplayer” thing. I did at first, but I never think “I’m a spartan fighting against other Spartans” I’m just thinking of everyone else as people playing a video game.
And no canon multiplayer would get rid of those godawful Spartan IVs! In short, it doesn’t even need to e set anywhere, it’s a combat sim, the UNSC could have just invented the design.

Its located here

have a nice day.

Ha that went right over my head. Sounded like it could have been canonical!

I was under the impression that Pitfall and The Pit are the same. The Pit came under attack and now, war-torn, has become Pitfall.

Personally, I believe that not long after the Halo 3 setup that there could have been development near the training facility (explains the building in the background), and there was some sort of war with the UNSC that left The Pit abandoned and left to wither in the elements of weather and time. Seismic activity could have created volcanoes in the background, however science has proven it takes thousands of years to create something using natural plate tectonics (ex. mountains), not just 4 years and some months. However, seeing as this is, after all, a simulation, I could see UNSC simulating a future of the Pit training facility and accelerating the decomposition process of Pitfall’s steel structure and surrounding environment, allowing for a simulation to be played in an area that is slowly dying.
