I will let you know now, this probably isn’t your normal thread about matchmaking.
I’ve been trying to get the Warlord achievement, where you win a game of Warzone on the 3 original maps. I was able to find and win on A.R.C and Apex 7 relatively easily over a couple of hours with a few of the newer maps being mixed in there too as you would expect. March on Stormbreak came up once and I lost on it, which wasn’t too bad because it was the final map so I thought it wouldn’t take long for me to get it again.
Instead of playing the other maps when I found them after searching for a game, I started to go to the Dashboard, quit Halo 5 and try to search again in the hopes of getting MoS. I started keeping a tally as almost a joke after a few failed attempts, but it soon wasn’t when the number of retries passed 5 then 10 and then 15. Eventually on my 18th attempt, I found a game of Warzone on MoS. And you guessed it, I lost.
I quit when it became clear that my team were going to lose, the other team were dominant and had built a very commanding lead. I was hit with a 9 minute banhammer which is totally fine, I probably deserved it for not sticking it out and taking the loss.
After I’d served my time I continued the grind of trying to find MoS, and the retry counter now passed 20, 25 and then reached 30. On the 30th dashboard, quit and reload I was hit with a 29 minute banhammer and that was enough to kill my resolve for the day. I’d managed to find 1 game of MoS in 30 attempts.
There are 6 maps, so you would expect there to be a 1 in 6 chance of finding MoS after searching for a game. Even if it is weighted slightly differently (although I found a plentiful supply of the 2 other original maps so I don’t know how true this could be), an appearance rate of 1 in 30 is horrendously low.
I want to get this achievement as I progress towards 100%ing Halo 5, and currently this achievement is proving harder than completing the game on legendary! I don’t really want anything to be done, I’m fine with the banhammers and I guess I could have just been really unlucky, but maybe some confirmation that MoS has been put on the back shelf so to say would be nice.
