Where is Everyone else on this?

I hear what you’re all saying. I agree, the new suit looks sweet, the only thing that is going to kill this game for me is the fact that it looks so different for no reason. If they explain that he gets new armor in the campaign, I’ll be fine, but they seem to be alluding to the fact that its supposed to be his old Mk VI armor. If that’s the case, that’s stupid. Why do they need to change it that much? Halo 3 had a new console to play with, but they kept him relatively the same. I also hate the new under armor. It looks more like what the elites had under their armor. More Covenant than Human.

I understand that 343 wants to make it their own, and I respect that. Picking up the mantle that Bungie has left is a daunting task. I’m just worried that they’re changing the aesthetics of the game because they can, and not because they should.

There’s a perfectly reasonable explanation for why UNSC tech would look so different post-war. I mean ONI would have a bunch of Forerunner Tech to play with, but at least show me why its different instead of thrusting it in front of me and saying “It looks like this now”. I feel like changing the way the Chief looks so radically would be like re-modeling Darth Vader in Episode III. you’d see him come up after surgery and be like… Who the Blam! is that?!

Well, I’ll get off my soapbox now and ask you all your opinion. Please comment and tell me where you are on this.

I think they are taking into account the damage the Chief received in the battles that happened in Halo 3 and putting that on the Chief’s armor. I think it just didn’t show in Halo 3 due to that engine not being able to support that level of detail.

That’s what I think at least.

Oh god. It’s the evolution of gaming.

If not, 343 has a good reason.

BTW. I love everything i’ve seen.

my dude, it looks awfully like spartan IV armor, I’m guessing the chief picks it up some how.

Oh don’t get me wrong, I love everything I’ve seen too. I just want them to show me The chief getting new armor. If they show him get new armor in the beginning, maybe an engineer splices his suit with Forerunner tech at some point, I’d be perfectly fine and be like "Yeah! this is Blam!-ing awesome.

Oh. Then I understand.

You should watch more interviews/read more bulletins… They already said they have a reason for his new armor.

they have said that there is a reason for the amor change and well find out in game

I think 343 won’t just have him wake up with new armor, they will explain it. most likely when you play the game.

You raise a very good point and I feel the same way.

Yes I have. And the reason they stated was an artistic reason not a canonical reason.

“It’s a change grounded in functionality” - Kiki Wolfkill.

I take from this that the old armor was more an aesthetic choice than a functional one. Meaning 343 thought out the reasoning behind the shape and build of the armor. that has nothing to do with the armor change being explained.

All they’ve really said about the SPARTAN IV is that it’s a little slimmer and lighter for quicker movement.

I feel like Chief should start H4 with his previous Mark VI, and get his upgrade somehow very early in the game. Maybe after a prelude mission.

Chief wakes up out of cryo, you go through a few things, like a short mission, you acquire your SPARTAN IV armor (not sure how exactly), but after you get it, it brings up the “Halo 4” title. Then, the first mission begins.

Ok one kid make sure you know what your talking about before you go and insult 343i. If you read any of the books or knew anything about halo you would know why it looks different. It’s because one his armor was damaged from all the fighting and when he goes into cryo sleep there’s some weird beed like things whatever they call them and they upgrade his armor while he’s in cryo sleep. So yeah there you go.

I hope so.

That’s not exactly convincing.

Ok firstly, don’t call me kid. I’ve been playing and reading Halo since it came out. And secondly, If you could please cite where in any of the books this happens, I would greatly appreciate it.

Well I believe it’s in glass lands but I don’t remember but it’s either glass lands or criptum. But if you don’t wanna try to find where it talks about that you can always google what your looking for.

See that would be perfect.

Your utterly wrong. Master Chief was wearing the Mark VI armor is Halo 2 and 3. The little beed like things your talking about are nanomachines. They are not present in the Mark VI armor. Only the Mark VII which Chief did not have. Therefore, in the five years that he’s been in cryo, his armor was not upgraded nor repaired.

They also said there would be something in the campaign…
Re-watch, and listen this time mkay?
