Note: this video is heavily based on a video from The Act man. I suggest you check him out in this video and in his previous content as he brings up very constructive criticism of how 343 can improve halo 5.
So as mentioned a while back in the MoR twitch stream, 343 said that they would remove grifball for some various tweaks in the game mode and that they may put it back after a while. Since then, they now won’t remove grifball for this reason and until its population is very low. However, where in the world is their consistency of this game? The community waited 5 months for 343 to add the game mode in the Hammer Storm update, and after this amazing coverage and news of Infection in the livestream, 343 thinks that they need to take it out for such reasons! You had everyone excited for your inclusion of a fan-favorite, match made and custom mode, but then you hit us hard with the removal of grifball?
Why was this even an idea in the first place? Even if you only required a few days to patch some of the game mode’s problems would it even be necessary to take it away from the fans? You can still test grifball without its removal and then patch improvements in the next update for us to play (such as Hog Wild), and it wasn’t like the game mode was even remotely as broken as maps like Orion and Urban (warzone variant of Battle of Noctus). Honestly your explanation of this decision really does not sound reasonable from our perspective, and there may have been an even bigger factor playing into your idea of the grifball removal. You’ve had 3 years prior to release to add this game mode, 5 months to add it after launch, and now you still need time to fix it? What are your priorities in your studio, because you sound heavily disorganized from my POV. Not to mention a new possibility of infection being removed in the future when its hype has died down for matchmaking, and we should never have to worry about such step backs in the overall playlist of halo 5. But we do because of your irrational announcement, and that’s what also frustrates me.
Let’s also bring up this article too while we’re at it of your inconsistency of you word. Your first heading talks about a permanent social playlist with a brief description of “Single game modes (Social CTF, which just went live, for example), variety playlists, new game types, community playlists, and more will all live in this new location.” Where in the world is this playlist? There could’ve been so much potential for the inclusion of community made game modes and other game types to improve the matchmaking playlist of halo 5, and yet you bring no mention of it today or the reasoning of its removal. It’s also silly for you to misuse this word ‘permanent’, as in lasting indefinitely. Yet another point of miscommunication with the community. Again, if this social playlist was properly handled by 343, it would bring new meanings of social gaming for people who don’t touch customs (like me) and bring a heavy population of players to support it. But as it is, 343 doesn’t wish to do something as beneficial as this, and the community may be forever left in the dark about this. This is a true example of 343 lying through their teeth and I wish we could step in and set things straight.
Additionally, I wonder about this system of weekend playlists and now weekly playlists for 343. How far have we gotten with this system in terms of actually adding permanent game modes? Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I have not seen a single game mode added due to the system’s direct feedback of those featured modes from the community, with these disordered additions of said game modes during the week, only to not have any additional permanent game modes from this system. Please have some consistency of your game 343, because observant halo players are extremely tired of this nonsense, and so am I.
