The first time was way back in 2001 or 2002 at a game store at the mall. There was a demo Xbox up front to play. At this time I only heard mention of the Xbox in a Tips and Tricks magazine so it was an all new hands on discovery. The only game demo on it was Oddworld, but the poster next to it had the cover of Halo Combat Evolved on it, which looked pretty cool to me since I was a big fan of Command and Conquer series and that looked to be somewhat similar(didnt know it was a shooter though)
Afterwards, I saw previews and even a strategy walkthrough in Gamepro magazines and ended up really wanting to play the game, but didnt until early 2004 when I played the PC demo, a few months later I got an Xbox with Halo included
The first time I heard of Halo was during the winter of 2009, where I played it for the first time at my cousin’s house.
First heard of Halo when my dad bought my sister and I the OG Xbox for the Christmas of 2001. It was bundled with Halo, Dead or Alive 3, and Project Gotham Racing.
I was always playing Sonic and other games on Sega systems before this and never really played any shooter aside from House of The Dead at this point.
First time playing Halo CE was mind blowing and the whole universe and atmosphere just connected with me and ended up being something I couldn’t wait to come home from school for to just explore the game and learning how everything worked.
Halo will always be my favorite franchise of any medium and no other game will ever give me the same feeling of awe the first game did and no game franchise will ever continue to get me as hyped as I get for each installment for Halo.
2001 I was at the mall. it had an EB Games in it and Halo CE was on the xbox demo spot. Silent Cartographer was the mission I got to play. I’ve been hooked since.

From EGM if you remember that magazine. Microsoft had two three game Xbox console bundles advertised, both bundles had all but one game the same. The two were Madden or Halo. I decided to read up on Halo and heard it was an open world gorilla warfare between humans and aliens. I was sold.
I went to pre-order the console with Halo, Odd World, and Project Gothem Racing (Oh yes I remember. Very clearly.) at the local FYE in the mall.
The clerk kinda laughed at me for choosing Halo over Madden and since no one heard the title spoken as it is written Halo, he pronounced it “Hollow” being young even I knew that was not right.
My brother got an xbox, and he had halo 2, That’s when I first heard of it. I went on too love it ,<3

Was introduced to H1 through my cousins not too long after its release. Considering I had next to zero experience with gaming at that time, I quickly became hooked.
way way back when it was first released, i was a playstation kid at the time and one day my mom came home with an xbox and and halo. Of course me being the sony kid i was, i brushed it off and just kept to my playstation for a few days. Well my inner curiosity got the best of me so i hooked it up, started playing and next thing i knew i never went back to playstation it was xbox and halo lol.
I first heard of Halo back in 2008. One of my old classmates showed me a funny Halo machinima and I didn’t play a Halo game until the middle of 2013.
