Where Halo 5's campaign leaves us

Even though this campaign was mediocre in itself, it actually leaves us at an interesting place for the beginning of the next major installment. The Covenant are being put down, but there is still destruction all over Sangheilios, where the Arbiter, John, Locke, Palmer and Halsey are all at right now. The Guardians have all shipped off to different corners of the galaxy to “protect us,” the Infinity is on the run from Cortana “until they can find a way to fight back,” and (legendary spoiler):

Cortana is now in control of a Halo ring. This leaves us with plenty of possibilities as to where the campaign can go from here. And some of them are pretty interesting.

The situation we are in right now reminds me a lot of Halo 2. “Middle of trilogy” syndrome for the story, almost like an extended prequel to the third. We have a new character(s) that people love to complain about: “Why was the story not about Chief?!?” (I personally think this one had too much non-Chief, but I remember 2 as well),TONS of cut content that we expected to be in there. (And tons of people going online and venting their frustrations about all the changes that make it “not Halo”, but that is a different conversation).

I just wanted to know what people thought of the future of the campaign story. I think it looks promising.

TL;DR (because I never underestimate y’all’s laziness when it comes to reading): I think that the campaign story has a promising future, based on where we left off in Halo 5. Thoughts?

Just wanted to edit: Most people now love Halo 2, and all of the multiplayer innovations it brought us. Just sayin.
