The ending of 4, Spartan Ops, and the teaser of 5 leave the Halo Universe in a really interesting place. What do you guys think the story of the next Halo is going to be like?
I think the first things we’ll find out through Locke is that the Chief is trying to find Halsey.
Hopefully somewhere that will influence the extended universe rather than be influenced BY it. A game with a storyline that you don’t need to know the lore to understand. I feel like 343 forgot that Halo is a game franchise before a series of books and media. As much as I loved Halo 4’s campaign, I spent half of it wondering what on earth they were talking about.

You have a truly valid reason for having the story of the game be completely reliant on the game, but that’s just not how it works. Halo is massive and needs more than a game to unfold all of the lore. It’s hard to make a truly expansive game without extended lore, and Bungie had books, comics, and ARGs running alongside since Halo: CE, they just never figured out how to bring those characters into the game smoothly before they left Halo. A convergence of the extended universe and the games has been inevitable for a long time. The only solution now: just read the dang books.
Personally, I want to see a massive standoff between Chief/Blue Team, Locke’s team/Thel’s Elites, Jul’s Covenant/Halsey, and the Infinity all on the Ark.
