Where did halo 4 go wrong?

I heard a lot of bad things about halo 4 and 5. But lets talk about halo 4. What went wrong, why, and how it should have been executed.

.This isn’t necessarily wrong/ but I’ve said it before&I’ll say it again. Please please please, god’damn bring back…Halo4’s team DLC Machmaking playlist back +because I support Halo 4 and 2 of the last few/ like 3 achievements I need to get are on the long gone’? 'Team DLC’ (playlist) which I never got chance to play enough as I’m sure lots of other player’s diddent! +a good portion of all the achievements are made up on that Playlist and a good lot of players of whom care about the achievements care about HALO 4 as I’m sure you do 343 ind

Honestly, I don’t think there was such an important issue on Halo 4 that made it look wrong. People didn’t like it because it introduced a new shooter style and sadly most people just can’t accept the chnges and the future.

for me the only thing halo 4 did wrong in my opinion was taking out playable Elites and having no UNSC flying vehicles other than that everything else was great.

For me the only thing wrong was the more linear nature of the levels.

Nothing went wrong IMO, it’s my favorite Halo game by a mile and one of my favorite games ever!

I think part of it was kind of inevitable backlash against 343, because if they changed too much, people would say it doesn’t feel like halo anymore, and too little makes it seem like a nostalgia cash grab. So they had to walk a fine line and I think they did a pretty good job overall. But one thing I noticed was the game being a lot darker. Even in comparison to the darker games like odst or reach, there was a lot less humor and color, with elites and grunts in more faded colors versus their brighter ones in previous games. They didn’t speak English, so there weren’t any funny grunt lines. There were also only a few marines, and no dialogue from the promethean enemies, so there wasn’t a lot of comic relief just in general. Spartan ops helped bring some humor back, but it wasn’t a ton. This wasn’t game breaking or anything, but I did miss the humorous charm the other games seemed to have a bit more of.

I absolutely LOVE Halo 4! The story’s awesome, I loved the character development, I also loved how lore-heavy the story was too! But there is a MAJOR flaw, and that’s in it’s Matchmaking, can you guess? Yep, that’s right! It’s grifball! Nah, I’m kidding, it’s the Personal Ordinance and Personal Loadouts thing. Those things basically killed Halo 4’s Matchmaking. Sure, there are some playlists where you can’t use your loadouts, or you can’t use Ordinance drops, but I’m talking about Team Slayer, Rumble Pit, Big Team Battle, and Capture the Flag (though I don’t remember if you could use Loadouts, but I remember there being ordinance drops), the three more iconic gametypes that Halo matchmaking is known for, they have been killed by Ordinance and Loadouts. Personally, I KIND of like the loadout thing, but the Ordinance thing? No. Just, no. It’s like you’re on this HUGE kill streak, then you choose to get this EXTREMELY gamebreaking power weapon (the saw) and get even MORE kills. Does that seem fair to the other team? What about if YOU were on the team against the guy on the other team with a Saw? Would that seem fair? No. Exactly. Ordinance was the Matchmaking murderer. But let’s move on to Loadouts.

Like I said in the long paragraph above, I KIND of like the loadout thing. But there were some things that I didn’t like. Such as these: The ability to use Boltshot, The ability to use a Jetpack, The ability to use forerunner weapons, Why is the most useless grenade in the game unlocked last (Pulse Grenade), The option to use Storm Rifle, The ability to use AA efficiency with Jet pack, the ability to spawn in a regen field any time you want, The ability have a Hardlight shield, The ability to use Active Camo any time you want, The ability to Have more ammo and more ammo pickup, and lastly…wait for it…wait for it…Cue drumroll…The ability to use the Suppressor, sure, it has it’s fans, but it’s basically a pebble gun. Heck, even the Forerunner secondary weapon is better than the pebble gun! You can charge up half the clip and shoot it all at once! IT’S LIKE A POCKET SHOTGUN! Wait…bolt shot is Brute Mauler confirmed.

Thanks for reading.

This. Halo was a change and everything past 3 always gets a complaint for how it’s “different”. Don’t get me, wrong I prefer 2/3 but I still see Reach and on for what they are and I enjoy them.

Soooooo, with loadouts. You basically want only UNSC weapons. and no spartan abilities?

It wasn’t a bad game, but it was a terrible halo game.
It just didn’t feel like Halo. Almost nothing about it did. Honestly, I cringe whenever somebody says that it’s their favorite Halo game.

This is all my personal opinion here: There’s really only 1 thing Halo 4 went TERRIBLY wrong at, and that is the DLC Playlists. If you’re going to release DLC maps, GIVE THE MAPS A DEDICATED PLAYLIST!!! There are quite a few maps I was NEVER able to play an online match within because either: (A) Not all players in the match had the map, (B) If the map DID pop up, everyone voted for another just to be a d*ck. So yeah, with no Big-Team DLC Playlist ever available, I was never able to play some of the new maps in Big-Team mode which would’ve been an awesome experience.

Other than that, the campaign and multiplayer were pretty much perfection. I loved the campaign and I have no issue with the online whatsoever. And yes I support the ordinance system, there’s nothing wrong with it.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with Halo 4; It’s my favourite Halo and in my eyes a masterpiece!!!

SAME!!! HIGH FIVE DUDE!!!

most of the of you guys are idiots who only care about the multiplayer halo 4 is not perfect but it’s a great game my first and favorite halo. I’ve played all the games and halo 4 is my favorite multiplayer tied with halo 2 and halo 3 being my least favorite. 343 is at least trying and some of you people can’t accept change at all and you all are so very very ungrateful that 343 is continuing the series after bungie left halo to make destiny. I swear the majority of halo community is full of ungrateful " hardcore" halo fans you’re no better than the fans of the cod community.

Interestingly I liked that the Covenant didn’t speak English. It’s always felt goofy in the other games that this menacing alien race walked around cracking jokes and such (though I’m not real caught up in the Halo lore).

Yeah that’s true, the other games kinda sent a mixed message about that. they had always advertised Halo as darker and more serious than the content really was (look at some of the ODST live action ads to see what I mean) but halo 4 maintained that feeling a lot more consistently than any other game. I’m kinda glad they stuck with a consistent message this time.
On the other hand though, that sense of humor helped make halo a bit more memorable for me. There are a ton of “doom and gloom: humans fighting for their survival against aliens” shooter games, but halo stood out amongst them because of its bright colors and never taking itself too seriously. Now it feels a bit more like everything else, which isn’t necessarily bad, but still a little disappointing.
