I don’t read any of the books and all the info I get in the Halo Universe is from the Halo games. When I first met the ODSTs in Halo 2 I was curious about who these cool looking soldiers were in armor. Then came Halo 3: ODST. I was satisfied until Halo 4. I understand that some ODSTs such as Sarah Palmer became Spartan IVs, but what happened to the ODSTs? Does the ODST force still exist? What happened to the characters in ODST? Mickey? Rookie? Dutch? Romeo? Veronica Dare? Buck?
The exclusion of the ODSTs in Halo 4 was a disappointment to many. In canon, it’s believed that ODSTs were simply not stationed on Infinity while SPARTAN IVs were, and therefore they never made an appearance. Buck’s squad is still alive I think, we have been trying to pry an answer from Catalog but he’s very occupied lately.
With Halo 5: Guardians being a more developed game with more ties to the original trilogy, I think we’ll see their return.
Most are probably SIV’s now.
Somewhere…? There are ODSTs, but like a lot in the universe, we don’t know the details.
It makes me wonder if ODST’s exist at all anymore. If anyone is willing to be bad -Yoink- enough to be an ODST, they’re probably not afraid of going through the augmentations which don’t have a high lethality rate to become a SIV.

Most ODSTs probably wouldn’t have any qualms about going through the high-fatality rate Spartan-II augmentations…
Considering how easily and cheaply you can augment, train, and equip SPARTAN-IVs, I bet ODSTs have been phased out of existence and turned into SPARTANs.

In the comic Halo:Escalation they do mention ODST’s, they are still there.

Go watch the halo nightfall trailer, there are clearly dozens of ODSTs.
They just weren’t necessary on infinity, what with hundred or so the much more effective spartan IVs.

only the best odst were invited to the spartan s4 and veteran marines.
i bet theres still a lot more odst then s4 and i mean ALOT.
and as other people already said the main people stationed on infinity is s4.
They’re still around. The stepping stone between Reg Soldier and Spartan IV.
Probably the next level of the ODST’s the SPARTAN IV program.
