I unlocked the holiday grenades, but I do not see them as a chest piece. Am I on the wrong spartan core? What are spartan cores? Why are there spartan cores? Do spartan cores increase player satisfaction? Is this a feature or a bug?
Seems like a bug to me. I finally gave in to the addiction and customizable envy. I gave $10 for the battle pass, but I am disgruntled! I cannot customize my spartan to my satisfaction. I want to equip the elite skulls with different helmets, chest pieces, and more. Also, the holiday items do not work on any core. When I unlock the Santa Hat will I be able to wear it with any helmet?
I think this spartan core idea is not developed well. Are they supposed to be presets? Why is there not a barebones all-inclusive option to wear anything and everything a player unlocks? Not to mention, I read a few rumors that the customization is increasing the gameplay deficiencies (desynch, blank melees, etc.)
I want to ask my friends and family to play Halo with me, but this core issue will prevent me from doing that.
A Mark VII chest called âOrnamentalâ is where the holiday grenades are found. You can also find the chest piece âCandy Painâ here as well (only if you purchased the bundle from the store).
The Santa hat âSilent Nightcap,â and the reindeer antlers âRein Supreme,â is only found on the Mark VII Cavallino helmet, in the attachments tab. âRein Supremeâ must be purchased from the store and is the second part of the bundle that includes the âCandy Painâ chest attachment.
Armor Cores are a feature, with a heavily limited UI, so it takes long periods of time before the devs can make cosmetics fit across all of the cores properly. New Armor Cores typically release every Season and during a new Fractures event. They are simply a means to separate the unlockable cosmetics that players can obtain while playing and possibly give certain items specific rarities(Item Rarity in Infinite has no rhyme or reason).
There has been some cross-core additions added already, and more are said to come in the future. There has been no word on if there will be full cross-core implementation or a stand alone core dedicated to all cosmetics.
Apart from your somewhat contrived complaint (claiming you donât know anything about them - when it seems pretty obvious you do) - I think youâll find people are generally on the same page.
And hopefully it will get better soon. 343 have committed to breaking down the barriers between cores - but it will take time. And they have a LOT of things to do.
The reindeer antler / nose is particularly galling because it didnât mention a specific core - and can be âtriedâ on multiple cores. So you can imagine the real disappointment after buying it. Luckily I saw the posts before I did (although I still might, Iâm not sure yet).
But this is supposedly the âcoreâ (sic) issue that is preventing you from playing with friends and family? That seems a bit over the topâŚ
IMO it would be a very, very useful feature to highlight newly unlocked items (whether via challenges/BP/store) in the customization menu. Like, add some sort of â!â mark, like in this particular case for example - the Mk. VII would be highlited with it, once you go into the coreâs parts the chest part is highlited, and then when you scroll left through the individual parts the one you just got unlocked gets highlighted as well, and the mark disappears once you scroll on that item. It would improve looking for the newly unlocked stuff so much.
Thatâs kind of the same approach thatâs going on with forced crossplay - you create an issue yourself in the first place, and then you desperately try to figure it out to work at all. You know very well that your friends arenât on the same level as you are, but thatâs ok, but when it goes another way around then itâs an issue, right? Because you donât care/mind at all that the enemy team also gets less skilled opponents which you stomp, thatâs totally fair right?
And all in all, how about your friends just get better at the game? This is one of the reasons I hate SBMMs, theyâre this kind of snowflake protection mechanism for people who suck at a game and give them the false impression theyâre actually good, because theyâre matched agains people who just started playing and donât know the maps, modes, game mechanics etc. and are being slaughtered during that learning process, and theyâre matched against decent oponents for once and they immediately give up and complain instead of keep playing and improving with time. Just stick to Bot Bootcamp if they want to easily every game.
But either way, the problem with SBMM in pretty much every game and why it just doesnât work it that itâs not âskill basedâ as the name suggests but switches between two extremes, even matches are almost nowhere to be found, the matches are either way too easy theyâre as boring as playing agains bots, or so hopeless you can as well go afk or just leave them altogether, because no matter if you played just 10, a 100, or 1000 matches, this whole busted system is never really able to determine your skill level and put you in constant even matches, with both teammates and foes playing on your level.
So the solution is, as with everything in this world really, to get rid of the cause of the issue, not its effect. You want to make a party with totally random people in terms of the skill level a.k.a. your friends, so why not just match you guys with another bunch of random people, just like that, some games will be naturally easier while others will be harder anyway, just prioritize ping so that at least that part of the issue is concerned, unlike now where the SBMM tosses you between uneven hanes left and right, plus the game plays horrible because it throws together people from across thousands of miles apart, just to fill that SBMM algorithm.
Thank you for the responses. The goal of this post is to highlight how the spartan core concept negatively effects consumers. Specifically, how the most appealing customizations are not easily accessible or usable. I am not referring to the microtransactions, but the battle passes and events. Although as others have stated, things in the shop are also not âcross core.â
Why are the cores so complexing? Was this to stick to cannon and other story related things? Or was it to trick consumers into buying fashion that they could not use in the manner they expected? A more consumer deigned fashion concept would keep it simple with big and little spartans, brutes, and elites. But instead, we have Mark VII, Rakshasa, Eaglestrike, Mark V [B], Yoroi, and who knows what other buffoonery.
To end, as a devote customer I want to design my character with more freedom. The customization of Halo Infinite is a huge letdown. The number of barriers make it difficult to enjoy the creative fashion designs.
For some reason, instead of using Spartan Careers which were found in previous Halo titles that all Halo players utilized for many years. 343 have opted to create this very limited Core system in itâs place(with Battle Passes/Events barely filling in the blanks in between Cores). And there is very little reasons known to the public as to why they made this sudden change but from a marketing stand point, one could say they did this on purpose to make more sales in the store from the unexpecting broader audience they were attracting since the launch of Infinite. By now, 343 has fully embraced this marketing scheme, and even has tried to sell the color blue or red and more several different times with very minimal differences between each coating. Very shady business tactics here in Infinite and nothing akin to the systems we saw in older Halos.
Most of the Armor Cores are non-canon Fracture Cores. So no. Most of these Armor Cores do not help the story or add to the overall universe of Halo at all because they are non-canon and can be rewritten or forgotten next month, next year or tomorrow. Armor Cores and cosmetics as a whole at this point, are just a blatant cash grab conjured up by 343. Even slapping Item Rarity on each items to artificially inflate the values of these cosmetics to the new fresh meat they have been attracting, known as the broader audience.
Bingo. Unfortunately, 343âs actions with these cosmetics have been anything but honest and with all the empty promises and short comings from many different areas over the last decade, it is very difficult to put any trust or goodwill behind 343 (or Microsoft) especially in this specific matter.
I think players should have to actively wear the Armor Cores and play matches to âlevel them up.â Progressively unlocking more cosmetics for that Armor Core as they play with it. They did something like this in Halo 4 but this time around in Infinite, they monetized the hell of it while also making it a very boring and uncreative progression system.
Also on a side note, @PL_Zywy I think you posted the wrong thing here. Did you mean to post that second response in the âWill SBMM ever get fixed?â
Your giving too much credit to 343 mtx designers when you say things like this. Their tactics are a combination of greed and laziness. Add in some creativity then maybe we could get to shady.
Somewhat feel like you missed the point, and I also feel like Iâm repeating myself.
In Reach, we rarely had âstompâ games. Infact, because we all worked as a team we actually all got pretty decent kills which were all spread out. Despite the varying skill levels, I would still sometimes be out killed by friends.
The âstompâ acspect is more a issue with 343iâs Halo. Iâve listed why this is before, but for a TLDR itâs because they made the game more difficult for everyone so only the top 5% can perform really well rather than the top 40% (making up statistics to eleborate my point). Aiming feels awful for them, as it does for me. As a result, they struggle to close out kills which then means Iâll end up cleaning up for them.
This wasnât really a issue in games like Reach which had far more aim assist / vehicle combat / larger reticles / longer TTK, ect ect.
Why grind a game to get good where aim assist feels awful, where you canât play with friends due to obnoxious SBMM, where wait times with friends are 20 min and desnyc / crashes still plague the game, and when you generally donât have fun? Theyâre not Bronze to Silver players. Some of them could probably get mid Platinum if they enjoyed competitive play.
Somewhat agree. Bot Bootcamp does exist for new players, same for the shooting range, looking for group, and custom games. Before, we had gamechat, customs and M2AF / M2AR. (message to all friends / recents). People have far more tools now to learn the game, yet are treated like they must be wrapped in cotton wool. Everyone deserves to be humbled every once in awhile in a game. It gives you perspective, and a goal to reach.
Agreed
90% agree.
I do believe in minor skill based matchmaking. I think generally if youâre in a team of 8 for btb, you should be teamed up against other teams of 8 if possible. Key element being if possible. I also think if the game was 16 random people, you probably shouldnât have the top 5 players on one team (unless grouped up of course).
Maybe do what Halo 3 did, since that game had SBMM but toned down by a ton.
I donât know anything about how the whole achievement, rewards, points system works, but after I finished a game a, little thingy popped up saying Iâd won a set of Christmas balls. I went and dug around until I found them and now those balls are on my chest forever.
