Where are the great maps?!?

So I’ve been a Halo fan since I bought the original from the Microsoft Store for $10 as an Microsoft Employee. I played a lot of Halo 2, and Halo 3, Reach and Halo 4. I stopped playing games for awhile after Halo 4 until Destiny came out. Destiny has been a lot of fun despite some weaknesses related to how much farming is required.

I was certainly looking forward to the Halo 5 campaign and story, and while some have complained I haven’t been disappointed here. I’m happy with where the story is going.

The matchmaking and maps on the other hand I am completely disappointed with. WarZone is OK, but I was really hoping for some great maps where doing the right things and controlling the right areas and using strategy actually matters. I recall moments from Zanzibar/Last Resort, Valhalla-Ragnorok, The Pit, Ascension, Lockout, Burial Mounds, Colossus, Sanctuary, and Warlock. Moments when you team magically or by plan pulls off a miracle at the last minute to take the lead,. Moments when by coordination you snipe the guy going for the rockets on Last Resort while your team rushes the flag. Moments when you control 3 key areas on Warlock so that capturing flags or getting kills becomes easy. And Moments on Valhalla where your team controls the center of the map and you work together to move up and take the flag, or rush as a small team and steal the flag while the other team is distracted elsewhere. Moments like on Ragnorok when you are outnumbered on offense with the bomb… your team is doing who knows what but you and your buddy with the bomb are near their base. You run from their team and they all follow you while your buddy sneaks in and arms the bomb.

I was really looking forward to seeing this continue with Halo 5, but so far there isn’t even a big team battle. There isn’t even a capture the flag or objective game time. The maps promote ring around the rosy chasing. You don’t control anything. The only exceptions I can think of that can be great are Truth (the old midship), and Coliseum.

Anyone else feeling similarly? I’ve pretty much gone back to Destiny as their PVP is frankly superior… something I wasn’t thinking I’d ever say. 343… I’m still waiting and looking forward to a map pack and capture the flag/objective game types to have similar great experiences that made me love Halo.

I agree, 100% I miss the old maps, I’m glad they brought Midship to the game but where is Ragnarok, Guardian, Blood Gulch?? The classics!!

Yea, the maps in this game aren’t very strong at all.
