It seems odd that as 343 is expanding the halo universe with new games, TV series, comics, books… There aren’t any gay or trans characters in something that is being made 2015 seems like an oversight and even negligence
I don’t know whether or not you are trolling or serious…
WTF??
If 343 do things like you said OP, I would finish everything related with Halo…
Go and play Mass Effect or Dragon Age…
There should be no expectations like this based on today’s day and age. It’s their choice whether or not they want to include these things, not yours. It should never be an expectation.
Yeah, how dare the original poster call for greater inclusivity in a franchise they enjoy because they have a vested interest in seeing people of varying backgrounds.
Anyhoo we have an ongoing discussion HERE if you’re interested!
Sorry, I don’t believe that inserting characters of any given orientation or belief is required for a franchise. You don’t have to have details like that in a story if the story doesn’t need it. In what way would adding a gay character further Halo’s storyline? How would that kind of detail develop the universe at all?
Answer: It wouldn’t. Halo isn’t an RPG, it doesn’t need to cater to everyone in such detail.
EDIT: And just a warning, this topic is likely to steer far too close to politics and religion. Be very careful unless you want this locked.

Then OP could simply ask for these things, and explain. It’s NOT an expectation, and making it sound that way can often rub people the wrong way. I would be perfectly fine with people of different backgrounds in Halo. However, Halo is a game series where sexual preference doesn’t exactly matter. If it’s there, cool. If it’s not, then whatever. Halo has never been a game series based on relationships and sexual preference. If it is to expand to that region, then they should do it gradually and subtly.

Good to know you’re a bigot
again, is it so crazy and absurd to think that in this ever growing universe and all these new halo properties there are people who are apart of the LGBT community? This isn’t the 1950’s anymore

Halo 3: ODST, Halo 4, Contact Harvest, the Halsey Journal, The Forerunner Saga, and New Blood all included very visible relationships. Romance, sexuality, etc. has always been a component of the Haloverse.

And that’s ok.

Not based on it. It has never had any relevance, except in Buck’s and Halsey’s and the Librarian’s case. Three different cases. Besides, what could they suddenly introduce at this point?
But, I’m just saying that it is still a touchy subject. I am no way against it. I just believe that it should be done with taste and caution. The games themselves usually had little to do with romance. I would actually be fully open to it in the expanded universe. There would be little to no backlash there, and if people are open to it, they could include them in the games. I’m just saying that automatically introducing a gay character in the games could induce a lot of shock and backlash. I believe you already got the message I was trying to send with expectations, so I’ll just let that be.
Felicia Sanderson and Allison Stark are secondary characters in the short story “Dirt” from Halo Evolutions. They’re portrayed as completely normal women who happen to like other women. No fuss is raised about their sexual orientation because (one would hope) society has moved beyond such petty concerns by the 26th century. As it stands they’re the only openly gay characters in the history of the franchise.

You’d rather abandon a franchise you love than accept reality?

Wow, I actually didn’t know that. That’s pretty cool.

I don’t know what to say…
I agree with FourthEchelon17.
For example in ME, it was annoying a bit. When I found out, Cortez is gay, my reaction was like…“ööö ookay, then we wont talk much in remaining game”, when the Geths shot him down, I was like “-Yoink- happens”, that’s probably rude but nah…
I know it seem I hate these people, but when I say I hate them I mean I hate their behavior. It’s not normal (but that’s relative).
There is one thing where Halo is advanced (or something like that), from the begining. In Halo there are/was always black people (means no ethnical discrimination), and women in the main story.

A Bigot like you not being a fan anymore for would be best for Halo
Did we really have to get into this argument? I sense a troll. FIRESTORM WOOPY.
I don’t really think its relevent to the game to have someone mention thire sexual preference. Nobody bloody cares. I don’t want to know anyway. Asking for it for teh sake that “its 2015” doesn’t mean crap. Books, I’m OK with (that one odst lady was pretty cool anyway).
Thire is NO need to mention -Yoink!-, transgenders, religion, race, or any thing else. It’s halo, not a cultural drama study.
For the matter of always having black marines, females, etc, etc, That’s much easier then having a character say something like “I’m gay” or something. I mean think about it. It would be cheezy and out of place. Not to mention putting it in for the sakes of sakes is simply wrong. saying its “2015” and it should be in is really really dumb. Some people accept it, and some don’t.
Also good to mention is the fact that some people will get offended by it for a varity reasons… Its better off simply not doing it. I mean could you imagine if lasky (or someone else) starting spouting on about how “so and so, is the only way to heaven”? Even though I consider myself religious that’s just… wrong in a game like halo.
Ultimately its Halo. Lets play it like halo and not worry about this stuff.
They are all on tumblr.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. As a matter of fact, I didn’t. This here is what I meant to say all along.

You say people will get offended by it so don’t have it? Pathetic
you realize people are offended that our president is black? Should we have a law to ban future black presidents as to not offend racists?
