I mean the - real - Covenant, the unstoppable and relentless death machine that even while fighting it’s own galactic civil war was able to stamp out almost all human resistance. A force so powerful they were able to crush and envelope several space faring nations and master and adapt forerunner technology centuries before humans even landed on the moon.
What we see in Halo 4 are an offshoot, rebels and pirates mostly led by Jul, when fighting them I get the sense that they are bumbling idiots who can’t even hold a gauntlet with four wraiths and some “Zealots”
My question is this: Why is it that the Covenant doesn’t see fit to first of all A) Control this little problem and B) Stop the humans tampering with Requiem?
The True Covenant (Sangheili Leadership) are technologically and intellectually superior to the UNSC, Don’t you think they’d be taking interest in what could possibly be the greatest discovery either faction has ever made?
If the humans have been able to create and launch the Infinity imagine what ingenuity the Covenant may have been able to create in these missing years? If the Didact was on the lose don’t the humans owe it to the Sangheili (Who saved their -Yoinks!- in H3) to at least warn them of the danger?
I’m sick of Jul and his cronies, compared to the real covies these guys are jokes. I think the Covenant needs to step in and clean up this mess just to wipe the never ending smirk off of the infinity crews face.
Is it just me or do they act like some kind of children in a sandbox, they dismiss the Storm and don’t treat it like a real threat and seem to wonder why the Prometheans are still putting up a fight (Lol because the Didact is still alive)
TLDR: Where is the Covenant? Why haven’t they shot down the Infinity and taken matters into their own hands?
Also, speculate on the current state of the true Covenants military and technological strength.

this
and if you have read the books you would know the elites can barley grow there own food, are in a civil war with there own rebels, and jul has a planet backing him,

i played halo 3 and didnt know that (DURP on my behalf)
but there must be ‘TRUE’ covi somewhere, and i still think theres some around some where that are still in alliance with the humans
I don’t mean the Prophet’s covenant, I mean the rebals, they still numbered in the millions, the Covenant is a big deal.

most of the larger war ships are ether gone, badly damaged, or on the black market (as far as i know)
and my first post should answer some of what your asking

No, the closest to a “true Covie” is Jul’s Covenant. There is nothing higher.
The UNSC don’t control them all, also if you are familiar with the Elites you’d remember that all of their technology was created by themselves without Forerunner influence (Hence why it’s so unique) - The Elites number higher than humanity, and have a history of conflict and power.
They’re not a race likely to allow itself to simply be overshadowed by an inferior species. I don’t think we’ve heard the last of them. I’d like to see them make a come back, as allies or enemies.
Couldn’t hurt to throw something else into halo 4’s quickly staling mix?

That is 100% false. Both the Sangheili and San’Shyuum’s technology were from reverse-engineering of Forerunner tech. The books make many mentions of how the humans are ‘innovative’ and the Covenant are ‘imitative’.
The Sangheili are currently in civil war, propagated by ONI for the purpose of keeping them down.

oh realy, that i didnt know but i still think theres some around scattered accross that are still on the UNSC’s side
Being one of the few races in the Covenant to achieve space-faring status without outside intervention, Sangheili interaction with the San 'Shyuum was initially strained due to memories of the recent war. However, the two sides later formed a prosperous relationship, eventually laying the foundation for the modern Covenant hegemony.
During their membership in the Covenant, the Sangheili were simply put, technological and societal equals of the San 'Shyuum. However, for a significant period, they found themselves as the dominant military muscle for the entire Covenant structure - hardly surprising given the warlike, feudal nature of their homeworld. What was surprising was the cyclical stability this feudal society was able to offer. Technological and medical advancement prospered, and the intelligent, aggressive Sangheili were peerless until they encountered the San 'Shyuum. With exchange of goods and ideas, the Sangheili adapted to and eventually embraced the Covenant religion, grafting its tenets to their own belief system.
- They’re not dependant on Forerunner technology and for the longest time they refused to dismantle it, I don’t like Halo 4’s approach to the nature of the series. For the longest time the humans were on the losing side, which gave the game it’s sense of desperation and edge.
The attitudes aboard the infinity are that it’s just a jaunt and they’re the best thing that’s ever existed. I can’t wait until the Didact destroys the Infinity.

I don’t see a single thing in that article that makes your point.
After several decades of being little more than warriors, they don’t have very many scientists. They can barely make enough food for their planet any more as they had the grunts for that during the time of the Covenant.

Only certain elites became allies with the humans which makes them no longer part of the covenant and the only covenant left is the rogue covenant who were once part of the original covenant before it collapsed and still continue to follow the great journey.

certain elites like the arbiter and his followers are allies with the humans but they are no longer covenant, because… they are allies with the humans…
