Where are all the forge made maps?!

It’s been so long now and there are barely any forge made maps in the playlists.

Just look at Reach! WOW, there were so many maps in all the playlists, with new ones being added all the time, and they were good maps too (thank the magnificent comunity for that).

Now there are still lots of great comunity forge maps in Halo 4, so why are they not in the game? Why am I still playing from a list of like 5 maps in Big Team? I understand that maps, especialy big team size and especially in split screen, could suffer from frame rate issues if not properly designed. However plenty of big team comunity forge maps don’t seem to have frame rate issues!

(Also non splitscreen I can sometimes have severe framerate issues in big team, on the maps they designed to supposedly work properly, so much so that I cannot play, why it’s such an intermitten issue I do not know but when it does happen it’s rediculous!)

A logical answer is they’re trying to strip us of maps so that we must buy their dlc if we want more maps, the problem here is the choice to vote for a dlc map rarely appears in the standard playlists, especially for a non US Halo player such as myself where the small amount of Halo 4 players means we’re even less likely to find a full game where everyone has a dlc.

And while I’m ranting, as a non US Halo 4 player I would very much have enjoyed a “search for games in your region” option; nothing like playing in US hosted games where the lag is long enough to go make a cup of tea!

phew

Any thoughts?

This was the problem with Reach. There were TOO MANY Forge maps and not enough shipped/DLC maps. The Forge maps diluted down the chance of playing on other maps, some of which were great for BTB. I used to love playing BTB on Maps such as Boneyard, Paradiso (yes its a Forge map but it was shipped) and Highlands. But the constant addition of Forge maps (some of which were not even that good) decreased the chance of playing on these maps. I got sick of seeing the same old grey and green maps (sometimes just grey) over and over in Halo Reach.

I’m happy with the few we have in Halo 4 now. It is balanced and allows for more play on developer maps rather than Forge maps. If 343 do add more Forge maps into Halo 4’s current playlists, then they need to change things up a bit. The Forge maps currently used in certain playlists are mainly made on either Ravine or Forge Island. How about a few from Impact and more from Erosion (I’ve only ever seen 1 from this canvas in Matchmaking).

The asthetics of a map should not matter, but it’s slightly more enjoyable playing on an astheticaly pleasing map I agree, although the look of a forge map has it’s own asthetic appeal too.

Also you reminded me, there are still maps in halo 4 that aren’t really in the playlists!

And what’s wrong with all the older certifiably great maps from previous Halo games being forged up and tweaked a little to work with Halo 4? They had these in Halo Reach, but not many in Halo 4!

Also with the removal of a Blood Gulch sized space it makes it harder to make Big Team maps in Halo 4.

Having more maps wouldn’t change that much as the maps at the moment have a varied enough design to mix up gameplay from map to map, but there could always be more maps with different designs to keep things interesting, maps that the comunity has already made.

It’s just a bit dissapointing to see the potential but have it not happen.

Edit: Also couldn’t the just increase the chance of their maps coming up?

Forge Island? The big and medium islands are plenty big enough to make a big team map. Plus theres the wide open areas of Impact and Erosion, both perfect to make a big team map (but everybody tend to go for Ravine/Forge Island).

Blame the compective community they have the say in what maps are used.

Halo 4 split screen lag is unbearable on forge maps. For this reason I doubt BTB will ever have any forge maps (par Settler) as it seems to be the go to playlist for split screen users.

4v4 playlists do offer forge maps but not not good ones. Simplex and Dispatch are the only really bearable maps. Not only do they play well but they have different textures and colors so the map doesn’t feel to bland. The other maps just look like lots of blocks and don’t even play to well.

Halo Reach had far to many maps to the point I could play a playlist for a month yet come across a map I had never even heard of. In Halo Reach BTB I believe there was like 20 different maps.
