Last day I was watching the final episode of The Mandorlian and I was like: WOW. After so many years and so many sorrows, unfulfilled promises, and with fragmented community… he realized a beautiful piece of show and lore which is unanimously and without doubt liked by all fans, regardless of their age and personal preference. I think Disney finally chose the good path for the franchise.
This made me wonder, how much do we have to wait? will there be our turn? An individual or a brunch of people with a real passion for the franchise, capable of developing great games and willing to continue following the same path they chose at the beginning, a path that can encompass both old and new fans in a reasonable way.
Maybe one day.
What do u think guys?
I’d say plenty of folks at 343 show real passion for the games. Problem with a game is that we’ve got both campaign and multiplayer whereas Filoni deals with just the ongoing story as far as I know. On the story front, I’d say Jeff Easterling (GrimBrotherOne) is doing a good job advocating for engaging stories and now Joseph Staten is around for a bit. I’m not too knowledge about the multiplayer team unfortunately.

Wow thats gotta hurt no matter what if you say the people at 343 aren’t passionate about the game they are developing you might wanna take a step away from the microscope.
also to the point of Filoni I wouldn’t say the stuff he does has universal acclaim but pending if you’ve watched everything else hes done you might have the appreciation of what gone on through each series of star wars shows. 343 are currently the best team at Microsoft to be working on halo at this moment and it might just be someone waiting for the moment to shine if not they’ve might already found that person.
I think Halo’s gaming media is approaching its sun set. IMO for Halo to see the sun rise again is through cinematic media. But unfortunately the TV show might be a nail in the coffin for Halo in Hollywood, as it looks terrible. We need a Halo movie done right, It doesn’t even need to be canon but it does need to respect years of established canon.

How tf can you say the tv show is terrible. We haven’t even gotten a trailer for it yet. And what makes you think Halo’s gaming media is reaching its sunset?
Well, look at the current writing team whose work was praised by Joe Staten (from the last blog update). We have Paul Crocker from the Arkham games, for pete’s sake!
Unpopular opinion, especially after the negativity surrounding Infinite in recent months, but something is telling me it’ll be really good. Of course it will have its issues, but I feel like we’re about to have the best Halo since 3. If not… well hopefully Staten’s position becomes permanent and he can redirect Halo to the right path lol Wishful thinking
Mandalorian was pretty awesome but in my heart Nothing comes close to Clone wars season 5 and season 7.
Both of these seasons have some of the greatest episodes and arcs I have ever seen.
Also the Ashoka arc in both these seasons was done soooooooooooo good that she is now my favorite star wars character ever.
There are literally Halo fans who are totally (or almost) satisfied with 343 because they are fully complying with the story and the lore. We should start to differentiate between the multiplayer problems and the great debate that there is with it, such as how the Halo story is being carried (the story itself, obviously the Halo 5 campaign is totally debatable and questionable, but in terms of novels, comics, expanded universe, the history of Halo Wars 2, etc … 10/10).

Wholeheartedly agree. I think the current writers are very well suited for the task at hand. Can’t really get much better than having Joe and Paul on the same team unless Hugo and Marty from id decide to visit also lol.

Let’s face it Halo is not the top dog it is anymore. It had its glory days, it’s an established legend in the industry. Everything after Halo 3 is pretty much fan service. I really hope that changes with Infinite, look at player retention. Halo 4-5 have not met “Halo” quality standards, this really needs to change.
How can you possibly think this TV show is going to be good? Look at the cast, the story, even the production. It’s been in development hell for years, they sent The Master Chief on ECONOMY class to Budapest (check his Instagram, they sent the star of the show on economy are you kidding me!), there’s a human antagonist raised by the Covenant who will be Chiefs arch nemesis. How tf you think that’s going to be good!? The human antagonist shouldn’t even be able to fight Chief in Mijonir…

so u’re telling me the wars 2 story, with the compleate recycle of ideas from the trilogy, the retcon (coz nobody know atriox and banished before wars 2) and the fact that banished looked exactly like covenant and the prometheans are disappeared in infinite is worth for you?
Man, I really enjoyed halo 5 multiplayer, the best since halo 3 (maybe halo 2) hands down, but from a couple of years 343 is disappointing me everytime…

I mean the Halo community did try to warn them not to chase gimmicks sadly. Nobody listened.

Aaaaaah…yes? XD
I have also really enjoyed the multiplayer of Halo 5, I am not one of those who thinks that everything in Halo 5 is bad.
But personally, I think 343 is doing very well in all aspects of history and lore. You can always improve things, but I think it’s fair to say that they are doing well.

I just don’t understand how a normal unaugemnted human will be able to even stand a chance against the master chief, an augmented super solider, with Mijonir+ having an AI which literally enhances the suits capabilities furthermore. At least make it make sense.
I guarantee you if you did a Halo movie properly it would big as Star Wars if not bigger.

I am not sure if I would consider changing the traditional gameplay, art style and style of story telling “fan service”. To me, it sound more like the polar opposite…

Are you trying to be funny or do you actually believe that?

To you’re first response:
sounds like a franchise trying to bring new fans while disregarding the old fans who made and loved the franchise for what it was. Did I want halo 3 to be the end? Absolutely not. But looking at the current state of Halo, makes me wonder if it would have been best if it did rather to tarnish this legendary franchise. Heck if they stopped after H3 waited 15 years to make H4 for the series X that might of been epic. Whatever, what is done is done.
Rebuttal to you’re second point:
I don’t see what there is not to believe? There has been a lack of any good action sci-fi movies besides Star Wars. Even then they’re new movies have been lack luster. Weather you believe or not is besides the point because multi million dollar movie distributors did at one point, and with the Halo TV show being made is evidence that many still do. The Halo movie was going to have a budget bigger than Avatar and rumored to star Denzel Washington, and was backed by Fox and Universal. So yes a Halo movie could be bigger than the games success.
