Based off what we saw yesterday, it seems that the (possibly outdated) demo was fully playable, and the fact that they opened the event with a “Press to Start” screen makes me think that it is intended to be avaible to the public. While I’m pretty sure that no Halo game has had a public campaign demo before release, they often let people get hands on at E3 and similar events. Now, those events obviously aren’t happening this year, and instead the Xbox Summer Game Fest allows people to play 70+ game demos at home. So my question is… when will the Halo Infinite Demo be playable? And will it be open to the general public??
I wasn’t expecting them to release a demo immediately, especially while they’re trying to highlight many smaller games on Xbox, but the presentation yesterday made me think it could possibly be available very soon. And I think that letting people get hands-on could quell a lot of concerns they have about the game-- especially given the current state of the fanbase. People are up in arms over the graphics, but perhaps letting them experience the gameplay for themselves would change their mind, or make them appreciate the positive aspects of what 343 has spent nearly 5 years on.
So what do y’all think? Will it be available soon? Should it be? And if anyone has heard information regarding this then please share! I’ve searched but haven’t heard anything official regarding the demo being made available to the public, or any hint towards when they will give more info about it.
I highly doubt this will be a Public Demo to be released. Developers will often put time and resources into making Demos for people to play at events like E3, PAX, etc. Or Demos that is only for videos to be uploaded. We will never probably see this come out due to being an older build. Remember Demos can hurt a game’s release.
See, I’d actually like to play the demo to really make up my mind on this game. I really just want to get a feel for how it plays and looks, and the stream and video’s just didn’t do it for me. I’m just so on the fence how I feel that even just a few minutes of moving around and shooting would help push me one way or the other.
I don’t want to be greedy though, however 343 decides to approach this I’ll be fine with.

Thats what I was thinking prior to the event, but the fact that they started it with the menu screen made me wonder. Like, why not just start with the cutscene and go into gameplay? To me it felt like something that they want people to try out for themselves, and I was half-expecting them to end it with something like “…you can play this at home, today!”
Probably just wishful thinking on my part, but I don’t think its outside the realm of possibility.

Wishful thinking yeh but believe me its definitely outside the realm of possibility. The Gaming Industry knows Demos can make/break a game’s hype. Plus your putting more resources and time into a small portion for PR Purposes. They used an older build probably because it was more stable and just did a quick edit to make it start up like a Demo for the Gameplay Unveal. There is a reason why we don’t see Demos for AAA products much anymore.
