When will halo reach get good again

I remember the old days when halo was fun people didnt spam armorlock and not everyone was over conpetitive, my friends actally played the game and wanted to go matchmaking with me but then everything changed. Bungie decided to change the ways we play the game by introducing tons and tons of map out of bounds areas oh but no we arent done then the community strikes back with tons and tons of in gameplay trash talk and over conpettiveness, and finishes it of with armorlock spaming. what did bungie do to this problem oh yea they make a broken betrayal system and banns all around for people who didnt diserve it and ignored the people who did. Right at the tip of the iceberg they make reach do a nosedive by completely ignoring the players and come out with new maps but didnt at all support them in MM suddenly a new hope arises from the mist 343i! so far they have been better than bungie but is it really enought to bring some of the missed players back to the game. Its not seeming to help, reach needs a makeover not cover up and slight changes and 343i knows it.

This.

Halo 4 better be pretty damn amazing. I want to quit now. Just can’t stand it anymore.

Your perspective is Reach is bad, my perspective its good. You want Reach to be good, change your perspective. Im afraid thats the only way you are going to see Reach as a good game, which is a bummer for you, sorry buddy =/ oh and welcome to waypoint =)

No those people won’t be coming back and the Anniversary populations reflect that.

I don’t think Halo is one of those must have franchises anymore and will take a backseat to games like COD where anyone can get a kill thanks to the shallow mechanics that aren’t as frustrating as the terrible bloom and spread in Reach.

The thing I hear time and time again from friends is that Reach isn’t fun and almost becomes work grinding for commendations that don’t really affect anything.

Reach killed customs with its dumb credit system, customs were a huge part of previous games

When was Reach good? I didn’t get the memo.

Heres is the thing that many people do instead of playing Reach they go play Halo 3 or maybe if they have a orginal Xbox play Halo 2 or maybe they downloaded it or something but I have to admit Halo Reach was my first Halo but I have come to enjoy it much more than COD. But I guess it is different for other people.

Dont let the forums fool you, you are not alone but after a year I think the defenders are worn out and dont even bother defending it against the onslaught of haters.

I think it will when the title update comes out.

I had a few really GREAT games with Anniversary. I really enjoyed playing with the tweaks and no AA. I really appreciate 343’s effort to give us more options.

It’s most likely gonna stay the way it is now. You either like it or you don’t. maybe Halo 4 will change your opinion about Halo.

This is what happens when the competitive community (or in this case, the immature part of that community) doesn’t have an outlet… they come into your social games and get angry.

Yet when we ask for proper competitive settings and ranking system to go to, you casual gamers rage and say that it’s a waste of time that should be spent on TS and LD.

My two biggest complaints in Reach are:

  1. The campaign
First, it was far too short, a Halo CE level was on on average about as long as the POA in Reach, usually longer, or at least more difficult and confusing, making it feel longer. Second, due to its briefness, the characters were not developed and I did not feel very much when they were killed. For a character driven story, it was sorely lacking in interesting characters.

  2. Multiplayer
I do not see anything inherently evil in what Bungie did, I believe a lot of the changes, specifically bloom and jump height, came out of complaints about Halo 3, specifically the BR spread and the “ninjaing” (for those of you who don’t know what that is, it is when you jump backwards over someone and then assassinate them). Bloom has been in Halo games in some capacity since CE, Bungie said it, 343 said it, stop saying it isn’t, the developers know the game better than most of us. In terms of armor abilities, the only ones that seems quintessentially Halo are the Drop Shield, as it is basically a slightly altered reusable bubble shield, active camo (it’s been there since the beginning), and hologram. I feel that part of the reason there is movement inertia that is more noticeable was to give sprint and evade a place, something I disagree with. Also, the playlists are unbelievably bloated, do we really need five different versions of slayer in team slayer? Do we really need 27 playlists? (imo that is why the match-ups are so inconsistent is that the population is spread too thin, even at its peak).

When you learn to adapt and learn new play styles other than grab nearest BR and mash the RT button.

It’ll be even tolerable if they have ZERO BLOOM on ANNIVERSARY PLAYLISTS! D:

If you don’t like Reach now, you will never like it. There’s only so much 343 can do to “fix” it. The changes that the TU will implement will be small- not nearly significant enough to satisfy those who hate Reach.

But here’s the funny part: many (I would guess the majority) of the people who have strong negative opinions about Reach still play it. Why is that, exactly?

Also, while negative opinions can often be more useful than positive ones for a game developer, we (the Halo community) have definitely over-saturated both B.net and Waypoint forums with our thoughts concerning Reach. I am quite certain than 343 has taken notice, and will make the necessary changes for H4.
