Will there be a place for me to play vanilla Reach? I don’t like being killed just because I can’t pull the trigger as fast as someone else. How about splitting Team Slayer into two playlists? I don’t see that being an issue since a lot of the playlists available now would still have much much lower populations then a split Team Slayer.
Just some thoughts that I figured I would throw out there. I miss vanilla Reach already.
I agree with pos13. TU should have a separate playlist, so should slayer pro and elite slayer for that matter. since tu started I suck more often than not when I didn’t b4. Does ur bandwidth, or lack of, have an affect on TU. My network is a bit pants at the minute. god bless -Yoink!- media!
No offence, but you’re more of the minority here. Just suck it up. The TU is like the original Halo’s, Reach wasn’t before (which is why like 85% of the population left Reach lol).
None taken papa. That’s a shame. I guess that’s why, until now perhaps, my KD is better on reach than it was on Halo 3. Maybe I should just get with it as suggested. At least now I know what TU is!

Your K/D is dropping now b/c the factors that were holding back good players were removed or improved. It’s as simple as that.
Sorry I don’t understand. I mean, at the moment, I’m not a big TU fan. This could possibly b b/c I’ve only played about 5 games of it. when I first played reach it was very different to 3 but I got used to it. my KD on 3 did improve as I played more but reach came out b4 it ever got ‘good’, though it may have done had I continued to play. when I started playing reach I was more aware of not dying by using chosen load outs to escape death, like Sprint or armour lock. Plus never having played halo online b4 3 I knew how to keep my head so always kept a positive KD. I think having life in addition to to shields makes a massive difference to ur survival.
Basically why was vanilla holding good players back? Do u not just adapt to an environment.
> Basically why was vanilla holding good players back? Do u not just adapt to an environment.
The dmr and other precision weapons use bloom (unlike every other halo). Bloom is completely random, meaning your shots do not hit where you are aiming, it is a random mathimatical equation that decides your shots for you. This means that even if I aim and pace my shots perfectly vs an opponent with no skill firing like crazy, I still could lose. Basically, the game doesn’t let the person with better aim win the battle, which in an fps doesn’t really make sense. The TU reduced bloom by 15%, so it is still not fair to higher skilled players because it drasticlly reduces the skill gap but it’s still better than before.
There are other issues the TU fixed to like AL and AC, but this game is still light years away from being even close to balanced.
Telling us to adapt doesn’t make any sense. It’s like telling somebody to adapt to losing a coin to toss. Further more, the people complaining have adapted to the bad mechanics, we are generally better than the vanilla fans (from a k/d ratio standpoint). why should we be forced to play an incredibly unbalanced game when most vanilla fans don’t even really know the difference other than some gametypes have “TU” infront of them
ok. I understand. I’ll probably like it then in the end because I always aim for the head pacing and sometimes crouching. I much prefer the DMR or needle rifle over automatic weapons. Saying that though it seems to me I’m dying faster on TU from the assault rifle with some noob running straight at me constantly firing. I usually do short controlled burst with that gun as suggested. I guess with the bloom reduced firing constantly with an auto weapon may now win over controlled bursts, at close range anyway.
Fair play to u. I just play for fun long as I do that then whatever. until this forum I had no idea what tu was, thank you for enlighten me. By the by I wasn’t telling u to adapt I was telling the forum I did between 3 and reach. sorry if that offended, that was not my aim.
I prefer Vanilla to TU, but after playing a session of Halo multiplayer, all it takes to get the hang of it is to adapt to it. Sure it helps some players who aren’t good at gaming, but in most cases, it makes you even better (considering you were already good before TU). It’s not that bad, and the thing you said about being killed because you didn’t pull the trigger first? Well, just be attentive and aware of your surroundings. Don’t run out in the open, stay in covered areas, that way it is less likely you will be seen first and more likely you will see them first, so you should be able to get the kill.

drastically reduces? At all but the longest ranges you should be able to squeeze out 5 shots in rapid succession without having to worry about bloom stealing away shots or rewarding aiming at the chest with the chance head shot. I believe you are overstating the issue.

Coin toss is not an apt comparison. Bloom does not offer an equal chance to both parties, and we can anticipate and adjust for the times when bloom does offer a boon.
Instead its like rolling a 4 sided die for close ranges. Rolling a 1 means you lose, 2 or better is a win. A 4 trumps all others. The answer is to bring more dice so that you will have an increased chance of rolling that 4 for the trump of any 1’s. In reach terms, you avoid close quarters and work as a team. Whether or not this adaptation is beneficial for the perpetuation of the series… I leave that to you and your opinion.

lol maybe on the forum, but on MM the Vanilla players are the majority. Remember that 85% that left because they hated Vanilla? They didn’t come back.
Chasing off the remaining population isn’t going to bring them back.
The competitive players that are still around deserve a playlist or two, but not all of them. You wouldn’t pull the social hopper in Halo 3. 343 should just fix ranked.

Vice versa, unless you can manage bloom and no bloom. I can. I was pretty nooby at halo 3, but I’m good at reach with or without TU. So I guess that just means that I’ve gotten better overall. I feel like I should be ten times better with my BR. The dmr is beast . Can’t wait for halo 4’s next gun.

lol.
Early November 2011: Reach at 60,000 people on a Saturday night - 1 TU Playlist
Mid February 2012: Reach at 130,000 people on a Saturday night - 11 TU Playlists
Population has more than doubled since TU was put into non-beta playlists. Now its not all due to the TU, but I’m willing to bet a good chunk of it is. Reach is not chasing off the remaining population in any way.
