Do they mean the rank as in ranked matches or do they mean rank as in your payer progression to unlock armour?
If it’s the player progression one thats insane because I’ve only unlocked one peice of MK IIV because the games barley payable and I’ve taken long breaks and returned in hopes the game is fixed.
They are resetting rank, so prepare for a lot of posts about, “I was Diamond 1 but now I’m Gold 3 after the reset, this system is terrible!”
The idea is they realise the distribution isn’t as they had wanted so they will be amending some of the criteria so players are more widely spread across all ranks. This will mean the system will still be as we know it where players oscillate around a certain rank continuously.
I hope the rank reset brings another ranked playlist.
You will have to redo your placement matches to re-determine your rank. For a lot of people this is going to mean likely being somewhere lower than they were before.
So ranked placement yes.
Battle Pass no.
What it does mean is that it may be best to avoid the forums on Tuesday evening.

I wonder if we get some kind of rewards for our ranks at the end of the seasons. I know other games that handle it that way.
Kinda like how Overwatch gives you Golden Skins for your weapons by letting you earn a competitive currency to purchase the skins for the weapons you want?
right, or how Magic the Gathering Arena gives you free gold and extra card packs for being a certain rank when they reset
Interesting, I wonder what could be added to Halo then? I personally would be hesitant to lock things like armor behind certain competitive ranks, but idk.

In relation to what you two are talking about, I like the idea of some form of secondary currency/weapon skin points for playing ranked. In Overwatch you get points for every win. I love it. Then you get a bonus payout for your overall rank for the season in each playlist.
I’m not a big fan of Overwatch ranked but I played it enough to get the gold weapon skin for Wrecking Ball.
If you’re Onyx now, you won’t lose your rewards, probably, but they’ll reset ranks every season, hopefully with new rewards. I really didn’t want to grind Onyx for a sticker and a recon keychain. The reset will also purge the smurf accounts trying to gatekeep Onyx.
Unless they add a cap to CSR gap within a fireteam, the gatekeeping isn’t gonna stop.
True, but you can rush to Onyx at reset to try to beat the smurfs to it, I guess
