When people say they want Halo 4 to be like 2 or 3, do they mean?

What exactly do people mean by they want Halo 4 to be like Halo 2 or 3?

If it’s like Halo 2, then I’m sure they don’t want any of the following:
Achievements
Online co-op
Equipment
Assault Rifle
More than 2 types of Grenades
Firefight
Elephants

If it’s like Halo 3, then they want pretty much what’s not in Halo 2.

Now if it’s pure gameplay elements, I don’t see why it wouldn’t be in Halo 4. Every Halo game is essentially the same as the previous.
The core gameplay of Halo comes from a game that is over 10 years old. That game didn’t have BRs, Dual Wielding, Equipment, and various other features.

As far as I can tell, and 343i seems to agree, Equipment has evolved over the past 10 years. There was little difference between Halo 1 and 2. Then it practically became Equipment 2.0 in Halo 3. Then it became 3.0 in Halo 4. From what I can tell in the new bulletin, we’re going to have Equipment 4.0 in Halo 4.
Also shouldn’t that be the same for the games themselves? Halo 2 is Halo CE 2.0. Halo: Reach is essentially Halo 3 2.0?

The core gameplay of Halo was in Halo: Reach, just with some new added features. Halo 4 is going to be no different. It’s already been confirmed that the shooting of a weapon not as old as the Halo series itself is going to have a new mechanism to it’s firing.

I’m sure there were people hating on Dual Wielding. Dual Wielding is not in the core gameplay of Halo. Same thing goes with Equipment (Halo 3 variant.)

Now I don’t see why people are complaining about things that claim to ruin Halo. Halo 4 is going to be good and people are going to buy it and love it. There will always be haters. Anybody remember halo2sucks.com?

Thank you if you read the whole thread and didn’t go for a straight angry reply talking about running a little bit ruins a game.

If I had the choice of Halo 2 vs Halo 3, I would take Halo 2 any day.

Halo 2 had a much better campaign, and unlike Halo 3 the hit detection wasn’t broken.

However, I want Halo 4 to aspire to be as good as Halo 2 was. Not be literally be Halo 2, since we may get a remake in 2014. Possibly.

/Opinion.

No. Reach’s mechanics even with ZB does not have the core gameplay. Movement speed, kill times, weapon differentiation, map quality, grenade bouncing, etc. Your thread is entirely not good enough.

And I don’t like the Assault Rifle. I much preferred the SMG because its effectiveness at close range range rather than mid forced two players to dance around cover and boxes and such.

Achievements are irrelevant to gameplay and do not matter for any serious player. They are a nice touch and will be included as a 360 title so it’s not a topic for discussion.

That’s new stuff. The core gameplay is still there.

A lot of people that come to these forums, come to complain rather than discuss and theorize. Which is beneficial, as it informs 343i what that particular crowd wants from the game.

As it stands, they’re not going to remove already developed/planned features because of a small percentage of people that actually come to the forums and whine anyways. Rather, they’re going to create playlist styles to better suit those players-- more than likely. I’m betting anything, that’s how it works, actually.

I still use the argument of “If you want Halo 2, go find means to play Halo 2 multiplayer. It’s been done. Plain and simple.”

People probably want to see crossover features. That, I can understand. It’s still not going to happen exactly like it did before. The thing to remember is, there is always room for improvement to anything. Halo 2 was not the perfect game, and if you think it was, again, go play it.

This whole push and pull subject on Sprint, AA’s, etc, is getting extremely old. The people that are bashing at it this hard are trying to ruin it for everyone else by picking out details they don’t like…

Moral of the story? Halo 4 will be new. Innovative. It will be a product of a newly established company, and a landmark in the Halo series as well as 343i. I am a fan, not a critic. I sure as hell don’t go around with a shut off mind, calling people stupid and reasons Halo 4 is going to suck. In my opinion, those people can eat one.

The core gameplay is not implemented in any Matchmaking playlists. Team Classic came as close as possible with available settings (minus notable maps). There still was never classic FFA or BTB. Still suffered from weapon switch and delays and bloom and low strafe acceleration and altered plasma weapon effectiveness and bad fov and a terrible spawn system.

Whether it’s possible in Reach is not an issue. It’s whether it’s in MM that matters because otherwise it is boring and no one cares to play customs in this boring game. The fact that it was possible to have something enjoyable in Reach is a testament to the fact that it was deliberate design decisions on easily-changed variables that made the snorefest that it was, not anything big. Every single issue with Reach besides physics and spawns and vehicles should be able to be fixed with simple numerical changes to speeds and rates and turning things on and off.

And those things are not new. Halo 3 certainly had options to slow down gameplay and remove weapons.

Thank you. It will be a combination of new and old. This is something that is not new to Halo. It took time for people to adjust to Equipment, now look at the community. They want the “Equipment 2.0” back (which is possible in Halo Reach with forge.)

What he listed is what people mean by core gameplay. “Movement speed, kill times, weapon differentiation, map quality, grenade bouncing, etc.”

It is not still there. It was changed considerably which is why people are upset and dislike Reach.

Who gives a damn if the core gameplay isn’t there? It’s not, and never will be, Halo 2.

Team Classic is a post-production gemstone they add to the playlists to provide some effort to actually consider people with your taste preference. Be happy they’re thinking of you and hearing your cries.

Stop being perky OP…

When people say that they want H4 to be like H2… they don’t mean that they don’t want any achievements… that’s just your trollbait to get responses.

Well what do you mean by like Halo 2? I’ve never heard of a major title release “reverting” back to the same gameplay style/elements from an older previous title.

When I say I want this game to be like Halo 2 or 3, is not 100% gameplay-wise.

I have heard in the video that classic Halo is still there, and can’t wait to see what new things they can bring to this game. I just hope they do it right and this game becomes what Halo 2 and 3 used to be. The whole feel of being one HUGE community who all love the same game. The feel of HALO, and the way it used to be the top game on LIVE. I want the great custom game, map, etc. community we used to have.

The changes, I’m sure, will be fine for Halo 4. I just want the old community feeling back, where everyone loves playing the game because it’s Halo, and custom everything comes back to be as big as it used to be. Don’t get me wrong, I love ranked games, but custom games were a big part of what Halo was, and we need that back after Reach.

I want it to be THAT BIG GAME again. Not a game people will play for 3 months then sell it. It needs to be that game that Halo fans will always keep, like CE, 2, and 3.

> I want it to be THAT BIG GAME again. Not a game people will play for 3 months then sell it. It needs to be that game that Halo fans will always keep, like CE, 2, and 3.

If a CoD game doesn’t come out then I can see that happening. I could see Battlefield and Halo co-existing.

From what I heard Halo would release AFTER any CoD that comes out this year, so it’s a possibility that could affect CoD’s sales and do it. Also many players that I know seem to be getting bored with CoD.

Rumors have been going around for any new game to be Black Ops 2, which wasn’t as popular as many of the other ones; this could also affect how well CoD would do up against a REAL Halo title.
