When the season restarts does it out you up against noobs till you get placed ???
Basically, when a new season comes around, it takes your current CSR (your “rank”) in a playlist and uses that to “Seed” your current rank, finding you players and matchups of a similar CSR for you to qualify against. Sometimes during the qualifying period you’ll find yourself against higher skilled players and rarely, but at times, lower skilled players. Based on your performance during those 10 matches (and more importantly whether you won or lost) stacked up against your rank from the previous season, your new seasonal rank is given to you. The use of your previous rank keeps people who got, say, champ last season from throwing their matches and getting gold this season so that they can pub stomp lower players. It also serves as a basis for finding you enemies to play against during your placement matches.
so, tl;dr - Not entirely. You may go up against players who are a bit lower than you, but that’s not usually the case. They are usually a handful of ranks above you or only a few below. Diamond will go against Onyx and champ sometimes, and other times even platinum players.
