Honestly, I would say that if you are a Halo campaign fan (maybe excluding H5), that $60 is worth it. I don’t watch campaign footage of trailers, but I am very hopefully they will get the formulas right this time around, and create something worth playing over and over.
However, I have bought every FPS based Halo game as they released, but haven’t seen any reason to actually own this one. Again, I think it’s worth it, but if you have Game Pass like me, I don’t see reason to also “own” it.
Then if they go the route of other games as a service models, I am sure there will be campaign passes released as they go along too. Though I would be surprised if they will be free or included with Game Pass, but hopefully those too will feel worth the extra cost.
Now, I’m sure they will incorporate the battle pass system somehow into campaign as well. This is good, because it potentially gives you more rewards to unlock in MP, making it feel a like value is added to your purchases. But maybe bad too, because it is a tactic to get you to buy SP, and possible expansions, to feel you are getting the most out of MP… even if you didn’t necessarily plan too.
Just do what you feel comfortable with. Even just wait a little time after release and see the reception to help with your decision.
