I shot 2 banshees and got +2Cr for doing it, not vehicle kill, what were they AI drones?
How on earth (or Reach/Halo) am I ever going to progress Grounded commendation when this happens!

I’ve had this issue just tonight. Unfortunately, there isn’t anything you can do about it. I get a feeling it has to do with the kill zone boundaries…
I think you can shoot the pilot out before the banshee goes up in flames, and you’d get 2 cR instead of 10 or however many you’d get for a banshee kill.
That happens to me a lot, always on Installation 4. Its especially frustrating when the 10 vehicle kill count is a daily challenge.

No I got 2Cr for the banshee, no points for an Elite inside, either before or after the banshee exploded. I fancy its a glitch. I’m pretty sure I’ve been credited with vehicle kills when I shoot a banshee on Holdout.
Are you playing 2x Score Attack? Because that extra damage has something to do with killing the pilot first, I think. I remember that if you plasma pistol the banshee such that it falls and hits the kill barrier, you get the vehicle commendation points you want.

In other gametypes, this shouldn’t happen.
In 2x, you need something that would kill the Banshee in 1 shot regardless of the gametype. So far, I’ve found:
Plasma Grenade
Laser
Rockets
Plasma Launcher
Always work. I’ve OCCASIONALLY gotten the Grenade Launcher and FRG to work, but they’re inconsistent, so just avoid them.
Thank god I finally got Grounded to Gold last night (my personal goal for it) and I don’t have to worry about this crap anymore.
