Halo 4 already has 140,000+ Pre-orders in the US only, and I’m saving my extra money to Pre-Order the highest tiered edition of the game.
It would be pretty cool if 343 revealed before the summer what the contents and editions of the game will be - it would boost sales and revenue, and give a bit more hype.

honestly, do you expect 343 to give out the editions to the game, if people don’t even know how it looks like?

They will reveal the different editions around 4 to 6 months before the release of the game, we have a year’s wait before the game’s release, it’s a little early to be thinking about the different editions.

Excactly. They need publicity first, but to also reveal it before too many people preorder - as it pushes more hype and gives an insight on the packages’ contents.
Probably E3 or a month or two afterwards.

Personally I think they will reveal the editions next september. The traditional release time for Halo games.
Personally I am more interested in when the Beta will be announced. It has be either june or july if the release is Christmas next year.
What makes you think there will be any higher priced editions?
Meh, who am I kidding? Every game these days gets a special edition.
Sometime not too far away from launch. I’ve never been able to get my hands on a Legendary edition of any Halo game before, so I’m going to make the effort to save this time.
Since I am an avid Halo collector, regardless of expense, I will be buying the most limited edition that is offered.

More likely than not, the Legendary editions of the game will be available all the way up until Halo 5 is released. Collectors need not worry, as Limited editions of ANY video game are never, indeed, limited!
MORE AS WE KNOW IT.
Just give me a standard size, heavy-duty steelbook case in the same vein and quality as the Halo 2 LE, and package it with a season pass type code for all forthcoming DLC.
Otherwise, it’s another green box for me.
