With Infinite we’ll have flight programs that some selected players will get to play different builds of the game during different points of development. The game is launching holiday 2020 and is the launch title of the next-gen Xbox (along with Xbone and PC). With a little over a year to go until the game, when do you think the flight programs will start? I’m hoping before the year’s end, as I don’t want them to rush it and beginning them asap will give them to refine and tweak the game to make it the best it can be without stressing. What’d you think?
I’m hoping sometime in January or February. March or April at the latest.
With “news” seemingly once every 6 months for a game set to launch 5 years after its previous title, I’ll have to say the flight will be one day too late. If the flight starts anytime in the summer or later 2020, it’s a demo not whatever magic words game companies label it as.
Not really a spoiler … or maybe it is! Looking at how 343i should be in the preverbal ‘home stretch’ and we have seen engine demos only?? One would think that 343i would be excited to show off features that were improvements from previous halo titles. They have too, with the new art style and music. Writing is harder to take in portions as a story flows as a whole not as a segment. But why not a screenshot showing off a better UI than h5? Why not concept art for traditional enemies if the new art style is being praised? We heard the game was split screen (a community praise) last December and yet (9 months later) we got silence? I’ve seen lots of early access game promise plenty of features that the community wants (an example would be eternal crusade) and deliver none when the time comes.
As excited and hopeful as I am and I want halo infinite to be the best halo, my issue is all the signs (or lack there of) are suggesting some internal development issues. Even the halo community updates have been dead silent on HI or say ‘read previous community update.’ I honestly feel like last year we’ve had more HI news than we have this year, which is really concerning since we’ve hit roughly the 1 year mark until the release date.
We might possibly get an early flight in December, there is still the mystery behind that date spotted in the E3 trailer dating I think December 21st of 2019? Or possibly even around next E3?

I’m afraid you’re right about internal development issues. I just don’t understand why they can’t give us vidocs, concept art, screenshots, something. They’ve done it with the previous Halos. I understand not giving us news on the story. But complete lack of everything is very worrisome

I agree with everything but vidocs, The Sprint, often occurs a few months before launch and sometimes continues post launch. We will have to wait 11 or so months until then. Though it would be nice to hear something on BTB, concept art, or some external lore snippets on the new pelican. How close are we until December? Yet we haven’t even gotten a ‘yes or no’ for a flight eta. Whilst for H5, HW2, and MCC the flights/betas have consistently been announced 4-6 months before entry. (Excluding the first hw2 beta, thank you 343i for that surprise. I enjoyed it.)
I’m hoping for an announcement at XO19 that they’ll start December. If they’re planning on actually taking feedback in a big way they need to start soon.
I’m curious to see how they handle Infinite and MCC Reach flights. Will they stagger both or have them both going at around the same time? It’s an exciting time for sure regardless because I don’t think there’s really a wrong way of doing it from the gamer’s perspective.
