I’m not even sure they should reset ranks now. What’s the point in resetting ranks when all the higher skilled players are where they should be already?
They’ve implemented a ranking system which ppl are now familiar with and can/will exploit. What you will find is relatively decent players that don’t care for high ranking, losing their initial ranking games just so they can pwn n00bs and pad their KD against lower skilled players in bronze, silver and gold tiers. A rank reset will create an even worse false ranking system.
Perhaps the only exception to this is where players are locked into a tier that is too high for them and need to drop down. They should simply remove the tier lock or allow tier level1 players the option to drop down a tier so they can find their true skill level.
I don’t like the whole seasons idea and rank resetting in the first place but whatever I’m in the minority so I guess I’ll just roll with it
The only justifiable reason for a rank reset would be that 343i are indirectly admitting that their ranking system is broken and not fit for purpose. A rank reset for seasons is an excuse not a reason. If all the highly skilled competitive players are already in Onyx or above then just reset those high level rankings for season purposes…it shouldn’t and doesn’t need to affect anyone Platinum or below (unless for reasons stated above where players have been incorrectly ranked in the wrong tier such as Platinum1 or Diamond1).
