When do emotions become extreme?

For example when do these emotions become so extreme they are negative.

Bravery/Courage
Patience
Diligence
Humbleness
Pride/Confidence
Pity/sympathy
Passion
Joy
Love
Stubborn
Imagination
Curiosity
Concern/Apprehension
Aspiration
Pleasure
Trust
Questioning
Hope

Here are some that are not necessarily good or positive, but human either way. And what would they become when they are so extreme that it messes up a life or something along those lines.

Sadness
Mourning
Temperamental
Weak
Anger
Frustration
Fear
Regret
Gratitude
Guilt
Panic
Shame

Words like those, that either are extreme of an emotion, or an extreme of an emotion listed.
For example, pride can become arrogance. I’m looking for something along those lines.

Emotions are things that make us move forward, stay still, or go back. Anything that directs you on a path can lead you to even more forks, which of course can be separated into 3 major paths, Good, Bad, and Neutral. No matter which path you take, these forks will always be on the chosen path.

As for my example: Trust can become Regret, and Courage can become Guilt.

I’m creating a fantasy world, and each god will be “based” off of an emotion.

So far the only ones I like that I have created are,
Pride----> Arrogance
Justice----> Vengeance
Anger----> Rage
Sorrow----> Depression
Courage----> Recklessness
Temperamental----> Volatile

Others I have and only kind of like are,
Pleasure----> Ecstasy
Joy----> Bliss
Diligence----> Zealotry
Love----> Lust
Pity----> Apathy
Fear----> Phobia

I’m looking for a “fork” where the emotion either becomes positive or negative. I realize fear is not a positive emotion, but all humans have fear, else they have no courage. I’m not looking for antonyms, more so synonyms.

Imagination can become Fear
Love can become Sadness and/or Mourning
Pleasure can become Shame
Weakness can become Aspiration (under the right circumstances)

Fear evolved to keep us alive. It is anything but negative.
