I see so many posts on here saying the game works smooth and we find matches quickly. If they released everything at once the game may not have worked “be patient” everything is “coming soon.” First off we don’t know what will be added or when, why are so many people getting bashed for complaining about lack of content because the game actually functions and that’s better than having another MCC disaster? When did gamers just accept less content and be ok with it? Why are so many people accepting of game that WORKS?
I consider bashing people that bought something for stuff that was not included as a being helpful.
Learning to research before you buy something is a valuable life lesson. It will lead to better financial planning and a happier less stressful future. Blaming the person that sold you the product shows immaturity and portrays that the person takes zero responsibility for their own actions.
Maybe most Halo fans don’t play other games? That would really be the only way they don’t know that other games release with a massive amount of content (this year in particular) and work fine for the most part. Or maybe it’s stockholm syndrome. Who knows?

You sir make a great point. 343 got me with the “coming soon” marketing, just thought it would have core game modes put into the game by now.

Playing halo 5 as is. If they add more they add more. Yes there are some things I wish they would add… Maybe in time.

What content is lacking? What were you promised would be on the disc and is not?

And it’s not just a matter of “it works,” but that it works well.

Since when do you need to be promised something that isn’t there in order to be lacking content? The game is lacking content not just compared to previous Halo games, but to most other AAA games on the market right now. People knew what Battlefront was getting, but it’s still lacking content.

Half of the matchmaking. I never said they promised anything, I would expect a Halo game to have more than 4 gamemodes at launch and more than 11 unique maps. We were told 21 maps and the game has less gametypes than any Halo at Launch to date. Where is oddball, koth, one flag, doubles, assault, snipers, infection, grifball, ect? Those are the core gametypes missing, there are at least a dozen more missing as well

Usually if you buy something that goes up a number this means it’s better, has more functions and more content.
When I bought Halo 5 I expected at least, AT LEAST what Halo 4 gave me at release. Look at everything you got with MCC even with all the bugs.
Halo 5 is a poor product in terms of value for money and if I’d been stupid enough to pay for anything more than the base game I might have cried. I really hope the promised free DLC is worthy of inclusion and pulls this game around.
Of course, I still play a lot as I love the game, just think overall "we wiz robbed"

You can’t exactly research how the game would come out to the letter, though. Anyone can promise you anything about the game before it’s release.
Proof? The story. I bought the game because I enjoyed the campaigns of previous Halos. Sure, they weren’t much, but I just liked the development of the story, even more so with Halo 4 expanding the lore in the campaign and Spartan Ops. By Halo 5, anything worthwhile to the lore was in HunttheTruth and a few of the trailers. Even in E3 they took one of the missions and modified them for presentation. I will give them props for having a similar conversation between Arbiter and Locke in the game similar to the one in the H2A (Though I’m a bit peeved that they modified his helmet. I was kind of a fan of the tiger Power Ranger thing contrary to popular opinion, but eh.) But overall, the final product came with a subpar Campaign in exchange for a competitive focused multiplayer, which had it’s own flaws that come from a niche mentality (Whole other topic, though).
But in the end, the only way you can do it for certainty is to wait an extra 2 months post a game release, but I’m sure most of us don’t even have the patience for that. Plus, 60 bucks in the big picture isn’t that much. And realistically, today’s video games rarely ever come out complete.
Also, this is just an opinion, but at this point most people are becoming more accepting of the fact that games will always launch incomplete with updates to fix anything missing. I tell ya, they really need to invest in a new development pipeline. Otherwise, AAA games are going to end up making Assassin’s Creed Unity look like the Mona Lisa.

Quoted from your initial post
“If they released everything at once the game may not have worked “be patient” everything is “coming soon.””
They did release everything at once. And this is an FPS game; since when does everyone feel ENTITLED to have objective gametypes? Oddball, KoTH, CTF, Griffball (loosely) are all based on school yard games, and when I played those games at school as a kid; I sure as hell didn’t have a gun. Neither did anyone else.
You paid for a First Person Shooter game with a campaign and an online multiplayer mode.
Can you shoot things?
Is your view in first person?
Can you play a story line mode?
Can you play online with and/or against people?
All this “coming soon”, “post launch” stuff was KNOWN before the game came out, that it wasn’t included. You still bought it and are butt hurt.
At least Halo isn’t in the hands of Bungie anymore who just charge you for things that were seen and advertised as IN THE GAME almost 3 years ago.
You got what you paid for, and will continue to receive free content updates for the next 11 months AT LEAST.
Anything you get from 343i after the fact you bought EXACTLY what was advertised to you, is just free content. You aren’t entitled to any of the game types mentioned with the exception of possible “Doubles” & “Snipers”, BUT you know what’s cool about that?!
You can create that in a custom game mode and play it! Just invite your friends, and you won’t have to worry about the horrible team killers, the AFK-ers, the quitters, just you and your friends.

You knew exactly what was you were getting when you dropped the money. You aren’t entitled to “more” just because another game has more. With that type of mentality game cycles would grow every year.
If I go to the store and buy a 12 pack of drinks. I know there are 12 drinks in there. If the competitor is running a promo for 18 drinks for the same price, it doesn’t AUTOMATICALLY mean I can get the original 12 drinks from the first company and then -Yoink- and moan because I didn’t get 6 extra.
Should have bought the competitors. But you know why you didn’t? Because you prefer the company with the 12 drinks. Even if the competitor is offering 6 more for the same price.
LUCKY FOR YOU!!
343i is “mailing” you an additional “2 FREE dRinks” for, at least, the first 12 months of the games life cycle. It’ll take a bit to catch up, but quality over quantity.

I’m not gonna bother reading what was no doubt a poor analogy that missed the point, but if 343 wants to deliver half a game by todays standards, then they can do that, but no one should be surprised when people stop giving a -Yoink- about the game after a month (you know, like how they don’t now). Not only does that mean people will stop caring about this game, it means they’ll think twice about buying the next game. And considering how this game didn’t sell particularly well, I’m not sure why you think that wouldn’t be a problem.
20% of the story was out on youtube a week before the game came out.
What did you expect? Its Waypoint.

We got exactly what was advertised (maybe not storywise) and I have an absolute blast when I play. And it doesn’t “just work”, it works better than most MP games out there right now. When did gamers get so friggin impatient and whiny?
