I see so many complaints lately about not getting stuff for accomplishing stuff in the game. Makes me wonder why all they need for rewards? Don’t get me wrong I loved when achievements came out. I became a Halo achievement hunter and continue to be. But I look around the forum and saw some one pretty much saying don’t get to 152 because all you get is an emblem… even those us educated types already knew that is all you got as we saw the complete list of what xp rank got… but I also see complaints about not getting anything for completing the campaign… nothing for this nothing for that… I would still play Halo if you didn’t get achievements or any digital unlocks. Back in the day beating a game meant you saw the credits and then got to play again… you got nothing but a sense of accomplishment and some pride which doesn’t seem to be enough. They want digital unlocks, everyone to high five them, 343 to come over and wash their car or clear their rooms or what ever else. Well my game is about to start so… can’t we all play just for fun? For some pride? Just because it’s Halo… 
I often wonder the same myself. People want armor and emblems and special notifications. It’s like they are working or doing something they hate.

By this logic 1-152 ranks shouldn’t even exist in the first place either.
But if you are going to have such a system, then the reward for the lengthy process of completing the system shouldn’t be the equivalent of something found in a bronze pack. Kind of defeats the point of these carrot on a stick systems to keep people playing when the carrot is rotted.

The released a list of exactly what was associated with each xp rank if it’s not worth it to you don’t play for xp… if digital unlocks are required in order for you to enjoy a game perhaps find a new game to play.

Playing a game because it is fun works for some people, but tangible goals can extend a person’s time with a game. I like having a goal to work for, sadly grinding the game for points to buy RNG packs doesn’t really do it for me. Also, I’d hardly consider it so awful for people to expect getting some kind of reward for beating Halo 5 on Legendary since 343 offered a reward for the same in Halo 4.
Honestly, I’m not sure why you’d discourage bonuses for players who accomplish things in-game. If you love Halo 5, wouldn’t you support things that may keep people playing? I know it’s easy to just consider people who’d love that sort of thing as exceptionally entitled, but at least try and see it from the opposite view.

I think it’s just the society we live in where people feel the need to be rewarded for everything. And if there isn’t some sort of tangible reward then its not worth it. People don’t do things just to be a good person anymore. We’ve become the ‘what’s in it for me generation.’ And that attitude is very prevalent in gaming.
As to Halo 5 specifically, well, 343 set that precedent with the last game. Should have expected some backlash when they removed it.

Yet rewards to compliment an enjoyable game have been in gaming near the start. I mean, I love Super Smash Brothers Melee (still play with my Bible Study group every Sunday to this day and that game came out in 2001) yet the allure of unlocking new characters and stages kept me playing. It isn’t anything generational near as I can tell, people have always done things with the expectation that something good will come their way. Even in Halo games of old there was the appeal of a Legendary Ending to get them to beat it on Legendary (excluding Halo 2 and Reach).

well probably not “hating” but such an external motivation can make people come back even if they have problems with the game it self, the last time I spent a lot of time on H5 was when that weapon skin REQ-Pack was obtainable, I was interested in getting 80k RP and it gave me a reason to play the game ignring my glaring issues I have with Halo 5.
Not everybody reads up what getting to max rank will unlock you, so I’m not surprised many people were hoping for something special, it wouldn’t happen to me but I cannot blame them either.
At today videogame market it is really hard to find a game that is motivating on it’s own, Gears 4 could be such game for me but we’ll have to wait and see…
I would personally like to get Random daily challenges, so I have an additional objective in Multiplayer.
That and additional Arena Playlists / gametypes such as Headhunter and stockpile

True, but, those are no longer enough. As evidenced by plenty of complaint threads. Yes there has always been some sort of goal at the end. I just wonder when it went from something that was appreciated to something we felt entitled to.

I don’t think there would be as many complaints, however, if there had been a transition. Halo 4 had things you could earn through commendations and Achievements, but now the overwhelming majority of content in Halo 5 an only be earned through the REQ system. Even Helioskrill, an armor previously only earnable by beating all the MCC campaigns on Legendary (though granted it probably was never meant to be only obtainable that way forever), is in the REQ pool. It is kinda hard to appreciate having only two ways to get things now, grind the game or pay with real money. One is obviously faster and the prefered method while the other can be a chore.
Around the time region lock got lifted. Heh, kidding of course.

They are giving stuff for accomplishing things in H5. Just because you don’t like what they give doesn’t mean they aren’t there… beating the campaign gets you an achievement and gamer score… sorry that is not enough for some… same thing for reaching max xp of 152… you unlock an emblem… there are rewards for stuff in H5.
Helioskrill was a good idea, until they put it in the reqpool…
As for now, id be fine with daily challanges. That is, aside from the daily wins. Reward players that complete daily,weekly or even monthly challanges, with reqpacks of the same magnitude

Meh, emblems aren’t really my thing, more so since I’ve got a pretty sweet Librarian emblem from being in the Halo Feedback Survey Program. Neither are gamerscore or Achievements a major concern for me. You are right, there is some stuff, but the overwhelming majority is tied to the REQ system. Really, all I’d like to see are any new armors, visors, skins and so on unlockable by commendations or challenges. 343 obviously felt that certain emblems of all things should be unlockable outside of REQs, I can’t see why they couldn’t do the same with everything else sans weapons and vehicles for Warzone. I just want a goal to work towards.

Why isn’t simply getting to champion rank, or xp 152, enough? I would say get all achievements but you don’t like them… it sounds like you want them to make a goal you happen to like. Most here seem as if they don’t want to do anything unless it unlocks an armor piece… which majority of the armor in H5 is hideous looking so I don’t see the appeal to it. Should more cosmetics be unlockable with game play… sure… but I don’t see how not having them changes the gameplay.

i agree, yes i myself would like to get something unlocked and would like to show off what i have completed but at the same time if i get nothing i am happy with that as i know myself what i have done and all the grafting i have done to get there. people just like to complain

I do understand the OP’s point, but i would love some multiplayer based achievements to be added… make them hard not get x amount of x. i want get a killtacular with a pistol, cap 3 flags in a match or something.
