As far as I can tell the weekly and daily challenges have been selected from the same pool since Reach was released back in Sept 2010. Sure we have had additions of LASOs, but I’m really hoping for a new batch soon!
The past two weeks we had the same fire fight weekly, and this week we have one that promotes match making, which is good, but its STILL a repeat.
Can we expect new challenges with the title update?
I hope so. I really think they could do a lot in this area. I am hoping this weekend we here a lot about this kind of thing. I can’t wait to see 343 shake things up a bit. I have nothing but appreciation and admiration for Bungie but I just want to see what 343 has planned for Halo: Reach and beyond.
Link, you have a mission to carry out since I’m getting ready for work.
Somewhere in these forums, BS Angel referenced the challenges and said that 343 would in fact be in working on them, but it isn’t something they have scheduled just yet.
So basically for a while it looks like we will have the same challenges recycled, until 343 is able to revamp them.

I really can’t help but agree. As I said in a similar topic, the challenges aren’t bad or boring per se, but they really are getting old after almost a year. Even more so since a few challenges appear to come up far more often than other ones.
While I don’t know what is technically possible, I do have a list of challenges that I think would be fun to do.

Again, I don’t even know if it’s possible to add new challenges to the pool or replace existing ones, or if these challenges are actually possible to implement.

That’s exactly what I’d like to know. The game can obviously track at least some medals, but can it track all of them? If yes, this would at least allow for a large number of medal-based challenges.

That’s what they DO. That’s why most of the challenges are “x Double Kills/Sprees/Firebirds/Headshots etc. etc.”
The other kinds of challenges they can track are Campaign Skulls, scoring, and Bungie.net profiles.
But that’s pretty much it. They can’t just type up a challenge and expect the game to know what to do with it.

I see what your saying but even if they only have medals to draw from they could still give us more variety than we have now. I for one would love a daily challenge of 5,000 if you get a Triple double.

The can also track what kind of weapon was used to kill, the specific weapon used to kill (at least in FF), overall number of kills, the map played (campaign and FF, maybe even in MM), number of games played, and the type of AI opponent killed (campaign and FF).
"Just wanted to let you know we’re going to leave the Weekly Challenge as is for this week. We’re already working on the next one, though, so keep an eye out for that! And, thank you for pardoning our dust.
bs angel"
Already working on it? Wow, I hope they didn’t spend too much time on it. From the looks of things, someone at 343 said “Alright we can’t do the 150 FF waves three weeks in a row, is someone on top of that?” “ok, good, it’ll be different”
Also, the whole “Link up to Bungie.net” challenge. Thats twice now in the last week?
If 343 has done anything at all with the challenges (yet) wouldn’t it be a good idea to get their own name out into the world. I think it’s important for 343 to take ownership of the seires and keep Bungie at a distance.
First off I think that x GangstaNo1 x has a great list of challenges that I would be perfectly fine with seeing added to the pile of Daily Challenges. The only issue with the challenges is that you know the whiny community would wet their pants if they saw challenges rewarding under 1000cr as they all used to when Reach was young. But I’m sure there are many other challenges (Daily and Weekly) that could be suggested to help bring new life to that aspect of the game. Gamers that enjoy the challenges like myself are getting very tired of the same challenges over and over, especially the common repeats as you guys pointed out like link up with Bungie.net and Vehicular in FF. While I am dissapointed in 343 for claiming to improve the challenges for us by now and seeing no improvement, I still have faith since the torch was passed to them very recently. We can just hope they stick to improving this game and don’t dissapoint as Bungie did. Here are a few more ideas to throw out there for challenges…
WEEKLY:
-Win (15-25) games in multiplayer matchmaking this week while being the MVP.
-Earn (5-10) steaktaculars.
-Win a game of swat by reaching 50 kills as a team in under 5 (or appropriate time) minutes.
-Earn 500000 total points in Firefight Matchmaking.
-Kill one BOB in every level in the campaign.
-Earn (1-3) Triple Double medal(s) in multiplayer matchmaking.
-Kill 30 hunters in firefight matchmaking.
-Kill 117 elites in the campaign.
-Kill 117 enemies with the assault rifle in multiplayer matchmaking.
If there is a secret behind killing BOBs in the campaign, please make more challenges to help lead us towards revealing the secret! And if there is nothing special behind the BOBs, please tell us!
DAILY:
-Kill the gold ranger elite on Lone Wolf on heroic or harder.
-Skunk a team in a game of Invasion.
-Earn a Triple Double medal in a matchmaking game.
-Earn a team score of 150000 in a firefight matchmaking game.
-Earn an individual score of 75000 in a firefight matchmaking game.
-Earn a yoink in a firefight matchmaking game.
-Earn a Triple Dounle medal in a firefight matchmaking game.
-Complete a game of Firefight Limited
-Earn a kill with the plasma pistol in multiplayer matchmaking.
Those are what I could think up real quick, however I know that there are many, many more possible good ones.
I hope that once November hits, that 343 will start making CEA related campaign challenges. Like finding a terminal, or doing LASO missions on the CEA campaign.
I would also like to point out that when you are looking at a person’s profile while on the game, you notice it has always said Weekly Challenges Completes. That’s plural. I think it would be a decent idea to actually have multiple weekly challenges, whether they all be added at once or maybe a second and/or third added during the week, and to also have them worth less (7000-10000 each) to balance it.
I completely agree with CG DMAN07, however I believe a large part of community enjoys easy challenges for large pay outs. I find this lame. Whining about difficulty just means your not trying hard enough. How about challenges that make you think and/or encourage team work
Examples; -Earn 3 Splatters on Courtyard in FF matchmaking. - Hijack a seraph on Long Night of Solace- Discover Halsey’s secret lab in Campaign, alone. - Kill 50 grunts in a bonus round of FF matchmaking - Play 1 game in every playlist- Find every data pad (come on, we don’t even have an achievement for this one) - Earn a laser spree in mm
These are just some out-of-the-box suggestions I can think of at moment.
