When are we getting more playlists and game types?

You’ll have to see what rolls out with Season 2 (May 3rd).

At this stage, waiting a few more weeks isn’t the end of the world.

It’s been pretty obvious for a while that 343 are intent to tread water until Season 2.

Hopefully there are lots of eggs in that basket.

Yeah it’s a fair comment. Season 2 starts may 3rd, will have free events similar to the “tenrai” and “cyber showdown” events and, crucially, will only last 3 months.

The reason we have no content at the moment is because season 1 has been doubled in length; with the content largely being prepped for a 3 month season.

We will have a new map for each 4v4 and 8v8 play modes, new playlists, new modes in KOTH and attrition being dropped into quick play. What’s more is we will have another battlepass with 100 tiers presumably, new content comes with this for free as well as paid.

In short, I am NOT happy with 343i management….but I am allowing myself a degree of confidence that the next season will have the same amount of content as season 1, only slightly better, and over a 3 month timeframe instead. I finished the initial battlepass in just under 3 months…so I have had nothing since then. If season 3 comes in to replace my completion of content drops in that sort of time frame I think I’ll be largely happy.

Then we have forge, customs and COMMUNITY PLAYLISTS to come. We’re going to be eating good.

Then Halo should NEVER use Slipspace Engine again if this is how slow simple changes take. Either perfect Slipspace so changes in a live service game are easy, or swallow their pride and use Unreal Engine 5!

I don’t see how this game survives outside of NA and if they add more playlists to be honest. It’s already a ridiculous wait to find games a lot of the time and fracturing the playerbase even further is going to make that worse. Unless they massively overhaul matchmaking this game is done outside the states.

No it isn’t. It’s not hard to add maps into rotation despite what they say. They just have to add the map data alongside the current code and leave the current system to select the new map at random.

They don’t need new links to select, which again isn’t rocket science, they don’t need to change the template for the matchmaking screen (which they’ve done before as they added tenrai, tactical and a freely selectable fiesta selection.

I sincerely hope forge is good enough for them, and the community, to create map content. At this point I expect much higher map introduction rates.

Which isn’t a customer problem, there will be a way to fix the menu to make it work.
