For previous Halo titles we pretty much had our hands on the multiplayer beta at this point.
However, we haven’t even got a whiff of what the multiplayer will contain aside from the fact it will be free to play.
Wonder if they’ll do a “multiplayer drops today” launch for it, where we can download on the Xbox One. The multiplayer may drop before the campaign/Series X although I highly doubt it.
I would just love some more gameplay, some info, anything to continue the hype train!
We’re not getting a beta anymore, covid-19 threw that out the window. Although I do believe I heard somewhere that they’re suppose to tease something this month. Hope it’s true.
They have to reveal multiplayer this month. They literally cannot wait any longer. The game is most likely coming out sometime in November with the series X so they have like 4 months to showcase the game and flight it (although I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t flight it at all)

there wont be a flight, that’s already been confirmed

I think they’ll do a stress test about a month before launch like The Coalition did for Gears 5. Based on what they’re also doing with MCC, I’m assuming there will be flights for ODST this month, Halo 4 in September, and finally Infinite in October.

Has that been confirmed? I can’t find any news about it.
I was aware they said they weren’t sure if there would be a flight due to the pandemic, but I hadn’t heard it explicitly ruled out yet.
Gamescon is 27-30 of August… so still a chunky 3 weeks to go.
I’m assuming Microsoft is still hung up with this cat and mouse with Sony. It’s starting to get tiring… just announce a date and price for God’s sake… and then let the game developers start to hawk their wares…
This whole “COVID threw the beta out” thing seems very…convenient. If they can’t do a public beta how are they going to do a public free to play launch…?
Now, I don’t know nothing about anything or anything about squat … but how come MCC flights are still happening fine and dandy, but Infinite flights are cancelled due to Covid?
I imagine there’s a good reason, but there’s obviously an infrastructure for delivering flight builds to insiders already in place and already in use (i.e. same process MCC uses) in spite of Covid, so unless the builds just aren’t ready … what else could it be?
I could be oversimplifying things with my ignorance of how all this works, and it could be significantly more complicated than that … But since I don’t know any better, I can only assume since the MCC is flighting and Infinite is not, we’re not getting the whole story.
And if I am oversimplifying things, feel free to explain some stuff to me.

They are not confident in the quality of their product. If they start flighting the community will discover how bad the product actually is and massive backlash and new memes would incur.
That’s my guess and aligns with your points. Because flighting infrastructure is already in place.

I had a good comment speculating about this in another thread, I’ll link it when I find it.
Ultimately it comes down to developing the demo infrastructure for the beta. MCC flighting already had an existing system from Halo Reach last year which they can mostly re-use for future flights on both platforms. MCC is also a collection of already released games, they do not need to worry about data-miners and leaks since there is nothing to be spoiled.
Halo Infinite on the other hand needs to have a leak-proof demo which is also representative of the product, without any possible campaign spoilers, across 3 platforms, on a new engine. Doing this takes development time and hands on with servers. When there is pandemic, it’s a lot harder to get both of those.
Creating a public beta uses so much time and resources and only resolves so many bugs; It reaches a point where you could just do large scale private betas and statistically achieve the same result for cheaper.
Them not releasing anything when we’re anticipating for something is already a tease in my books. Like you said, hopefully we’ll get something, anything for that matter, soon as the release date approaches.

Hopefully good things come out of it.
Stuff like Sony and the Avengers is annoying enough. It’s always a competition! Just let us enjoy the content. It’s mad you literally have to pay around $1,000 per generation to have the hardware to play all the exclusives.
