A while ago they did say something about 2 new vehicles, but we only saw one. And we still don’t know if there will be any UNSC Air vehicles. If, or when they do I hope we can finally get a pelican or even other large player carriers too, as well as the average USNC combat air.
It’s the mammoth.
Mantis + Mammoth = 2
Damn it, The mammoth is freakin legendary, but I never really counted it as entirely new because we had the Elephant before it. I was kinda hoping for a pelican, oh well I guess i’m happy with either to be totally honest.
It could be a case of a campaign only vehicle, ala the Sabre in Reach, though I don’t think we’ll be driving the Mammoth anytime soon.

I know that, but their purpose is similar and they are a little alike. Obviously not in size and functionality, but 343 obviously wanted to make it clear that the Mammoth evolved from the Elephant otherwise they would not have given it its name nor would the have made it essentially fulfill the same purpose, just on a much bigger and intricate scale.

It doesn’t fulfill the same purpose. The Mammoth has a number of defense turrets, and a large gun on top that seems to be pretty powerful. It also can go much faster than the Elephant, and even the Scorpion. It seems much more fitted for attacking than the Elephant was.
That’s like saying the Mantis doesn’t count because we had the Cyclops in Halo Wars. While they are similar in some ways, they are very different in general.
I can’t think of a good mission where we will be driving the mammoth around, but I really hope that they have come up with another cool vehicle. I’d be fine with just the mantis because it is awesome, but I’d like to see some new vehicles that haven’t been around forever already.
We’ll have to wait and see.

Yes but Halo wars wasn’t directly linked to the main trilogy, so that’s completely different and like I said before, the Mammoth is the evolution of the Elephant clearly. I said it doesn’t really count as new because something like it was already there before hand. Yes I do acknowledge it as new clearly, but it isn’t something that we have never seen before, it didn’t make me go wow!!! Like the mantis did because it already had its precursor.
The cyclops could never shoot bullets nor missiles. It was primarily used for melee battles and building repairs, it was more like an extra large combat skin rather than a mech. The Elephant on the other hand did have turrets and carried vehicle and like the Mammoth was the biggest ground vehicle at the time. So as you can see they do have a lot in common especially because they are used for essentially the same purpose. Mobile Ground Command Center, Troop Deployment, Anti-Vehicular/Anti-Air platform/Anti-Infantry and Transport.
have to say if the mammoth is in multiplayer will show that halo 4 is much more custom game friendly than reach! dont think i really ever played customs in reach compared to the halo 2 and 3 days

The Elephant, despite it’s use in Halo Wars, is more of a mobile repair shop, thus the crane.
The Mammoth is a Mobile base, had the Mammoth been in the game before Halo wars, the Elephant would of been replaced with the Mammoth as a Mobile base.
The Cyclops was the repair mech, not an attack mech, you know the difference between a bull doser and an Abrams tank other than the shape? It’s use Same family, different uses.
Also, The mammoth will not be in MP because it’s too damn big, please not that it would take 12 or 16 Elephants parked side by side, front to back, to make up the foot print of the Mammoth. Elephants are 25 Meters long, the Mammoth is 100 Meters long.

I don’t know what map could house the Mammoth effectively, the thing is 110 meters long, 29 meters wide and 42 meters high, Spartans look like ants next to it. I think it would make more sense if it was an MP level itself. Or maybe it could be used on one of the upcoming maps, maybe one in each could be forge world sized.
343 recently released a list of all available forge objects, including vehicles and there was no Hornet/Falcon
